[edit] Spoken article quality assessment

Version reviewed: 08:47, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Technical quality: Low

  • Encoded at 96 kbps, not 48 kbps per recording guidelines. This makes the audio file larger than it needs to be for a good quality voice recording.
  • Prominent microphone thumps and breath noise throughout.
  • Some audio level variation.

Clarity: Medium

  • Incorrect pronunciations: pseudonym, endeavors, fanaticism, music, as referenced on Wiktionary.
  • Uneven pacing: Parts of some sentences rushed, producing poor enunciation in those parts.

Accuracy: Medium

  • Variations from the text which alter the meaning:
Section "Other endeavors": "neither were expected to actively compete" read as "neither were expected to actively complete"
  • Minor ad-libbing.

Good speaking voice, but the recording is let down by the abovementioned problems.

Help with recording issues can be obtained under "Recording assistance" here.
Information on the assessment procedure can be found on the spoken article assessment page.
