[edit] History

Rhythm & Vines was the brain child of university mates Hamish Pinkham, Tom Gibson and Andrew Witters. They originally came up with the concept for the event with a vision of gathering their networks of university friends and other young kiwis from throughout New Zealand to celebrate the New Year in a safe and secure location where they would be entertained by some great New Zealand Music.

This 24 hour music festival showcases New Zealand's best musicians and now international artists, taking place at Waiohika Estate's (Witters family house). It's breathtakingly beautiful with a natural outdoor amphitheatre held on 31st December.

The festival is planning for the 5th year anniversary and is the fastest growing music festival in New Zealand. It´s the ideal place to be for New Year´s because Gisborne is the first city in the world to see the sun, plus it's summer!

In 2006/07 R&V hosted 15,000 people over the new year period. Most people come to R&V and stay at BW Campgrounds or at hotels and beach houses in Gisborne.

The Poverty Bay Club is home to the R&V Summer Sessions which are the parties surrounding R&V. The Summer Sessions are hosted by RV Productions and are a great way for up and coming bands to perform.
