Rhys Evans (born January 27, 1982 in Swindon, Wiltshire) is an English football goalkeeper.
Evans joined his hometown club of Swindon Town in July 2003 from Chelsea. While at Chelsea, he played on loan at Bristol Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, and Leyton Orient.
Evans made his debut for the England U-21 squad in 2003 prior to joining Swindon, and later declined a second chance while he was establishing himself as Swindon's first-choice goalkeeper. The 2005-06 season got off to a bad start for Evans after a knee injury, with his being forced to play early matches in pain until Swindon secured Tom Heaton on loan from Manchester United until January 1, 2006, allowing Evans to have surgery on the knee. Following his comeback to the team in late 2005, Evans again established himself in the first team.
The 2005-06 season ended in relegation for Swindon Town. However, the fans recognised Evans' contribution by awarded the goalkeeper with the Player of the Season award.
Swindon offered Evans a one-year contract which was Evans deemed unsatisfactory. He decided to leave and sign for Blackpool, for whom he signed on 1 July 2006 on a free transfer.
As of January 23, 2007, Evans has kept five clean sheets in the 2006/7 league season. Just over a month later, on February 27, Evans was dropped in favour of on-loan Paul Rachubka for a match at Oldham Athletic. Rachubka kept a clean sheet in a 1-0 win.
