Rhizopus nigricans is a type of black mold which is known to grow on bread, therefore known as breadmold. It is a member of the genus Rhizopus, which contains fungi with columnar hemispherical aerial sporangia anchored to the substrate by rhizoids.
It is a known producer of allergens.
