[edit] Intro

I joined here on Aug. 6, 2005 and still need to learn a lot re Wikipedia workings.

My hobbies are German Shepherd Dogs, Classical Music, and International Humanity. I am a retired businessman (engineering) living in Canada, and somewhat fluent in English and German.

My web site on German Shepherd Dogs is strickly educational and non-profit (established two years after I stopped breeding), and can be found here. It does promote working dog breeding, because I have never been able to see a useful purpose in breeding for show.

[edit] My pet project: sorting out the dog-organizations jungle

Not only do I think that Wikipedia is THE perfect way of collectively sorting through that jungle of national and international dog clubs/organization and the various breed registries, it also appears to me that Wikipedia actually needs to do that first, before it can proceed with listing any dog breeds, origins, clubs, etc. in a realistic way, based on actual facts. To the best of my knowledge, there is no single place anywhere on earth where this information can be obtained, thus it will be necessary to make this an international project that will involve members from as many regions of the world as can be found and be willing to contribute. As I do not yet have sufficient knowledge of the workings of Wikipedia, I hope that someone here is willing to take the lead in organizing this project. I did some research on this topic a few years ago that I hope can serve as a starting point, which can be found here. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
