Reynaldo Armas was born in Los Guatacaros, Santa María de Ipire, Guárico, August 4, 1953, is a famous venezuelan singer and composer. were his parents, Nicasio Armas Figueroa and Modesta Enguaima Hernandez

He has four brothers: Domingo, Algeria, Felipa and Margoth. at the age of 9 his family traveled from Los Guatacaros to Caño Morocho near of Zaraza, is there where at the age of 11, begins to share with regional musicians in parrandas and dances. At the age of 12 he composes his first song: “My First love”. At the age of 15 he makes debut in a dominical program of Radio Zaraza lead by Pompeyo Higuera “Caminitos de Zaraza”, soon he enters in the gaita grouping Los Bravos de la Loma for which he compose several carols and aguinaldos, under the direction of the teacher Jose Antonio Blanca of the Copleros of Unare.
At the age of 16, participates in a contrapunteo festival that was made in the club the light and makes trophy and money from the attending public. With 17 years he travels to Caracas, he started to sing, in night clubs, but for the folkloric music, this kind of club were a few.
His first goadfather (if therefore it is possible to be called to him) was Don Jose Romero Bello, singer and composer very respected and one of the first interpreter of “Florentino y el Diablo”,also next to The El Carrao de Palmarito. Reynaldo Armas was baptized with the pseudonym El Cardenal Sabanero he travels with Romero Bello to San Fernando de Apure and participates in the festival “Cantaclaro de Oro” a version of the Florentino de Oro. This was in 1973, and he obtained the second place between 18 participants of all the levels. In 1975 he returns to the festival and he won the first place, the same in Valencia, Venezuela with the “Cucarachero de Oro”, in San Carlos of Austria wins like composer, the Miranda de Oro in Los Teques and many but like contrapunteador and solo singer. Between 1975 and 1976 he records two singles, first with the name: Mi primer Amor y Cariño fingido and the second: Recorriendo a Venezuela y el Revolucionario.
In 1977 Reynaldo Armas records is first LP with the support of Rafael Martínez Arteaga El Cazador Novato, that in that time was with great popularity in Venezuela and Colombia with several folkloric poems. Yo También quiero cantar was the name of that disc, it was not a successful in the radios, because in that time the folk music only sounded in certain programs at night and in the TV it did not have diffusion.
Is in the middle of 1978 when with the LP, La inspiración del poeta Reynaldo begins to sound in all the country, a folk music more flood of romanticism and without back leaving to the landscape and the song to the life, penetrates in the most important cities conquering the controversiales Public, people of different ages and sex is identified immediately with this artist who comes to be a Mesías for the llanera music.
From that then a parade of successes without parallel begins, the prizes and recognitions go and come as well as the decorations. Prizes like the Guaicaipuro de Oro, Meridiano, Ronda, Mara, Cacique, Tiuna,, Venus de la prensa, among others.
He has written more than three hundred songs and has recorded twenty-six albums, all with songs composed by him, except three subjects of the first disc that belong to the El Cazador Novato. He travels constantly to Colombia where he has a parallel market, to the United States and Europe. Reynaldo Armas is one of the most importants venezuelan folk singers.
