Rey Oropeza
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rey Oropeza is a Hispanic American musician from Los Angeles, California, and the vocalist from hardcore punk / rapcore band downset.
Oropeza was raised in South Central Los Angeles.
His father was killed by the L.A.P.D.[citation needed]
Oropeza was one of the vocalists considered to resume Rage Against the Machine's Zack de la Rocha frontman position after Zack left. Other replacement contenders were Chris Cornell, Chuck D, and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Cornell was ultimately chosen, and Rage Against the Machine transfigured into Audioslave. Interestingly enough, there was much speculation during the mid-90's that Oropeza actually had a feud with Rage Against the Machine, as certain disrespectful lines in early downset. songs appeared to have been directed at Zack de la Rocha.
