[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello RevRaven, welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips:

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, Alf 07:27, 28 August 2005 (UTC).

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Iczer_One.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Iczer_One.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 20:11, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Decatur, Alabama

Regarding your recent edition of Decatur, Alabama: Please do not add commentary and your personal analysis of an article into Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. —LonelyPilgrim 16:11, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mst3k.jpg source

If I might ask, where did you get Image:Mst3k.jpg? It's described in the license statement as a screenshot, but I don't recognize it as such. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:49, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. I found this in my MST3K graphics archives. I put it using the screenshot template because of my unfamilarity with the templates. I wasn't able to find the template for a Promotional Image, which is what the graphic actually is (it was used by Best Brains on some promotional material). I appologize for the inconvience if this has caused any problem, but really I wanted to get the infobox done quickly and with a good picture of the planet logo (and I didn't have a CC-era picture of the planet handy). I hope I haven't caused any problem! Reverend Raven 14:14, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
No problem. I've changed the license template to {{promotional}} (it's listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, a good resource for these things) and added a line about the image coming from Best Brains, but from an unknown URL. We'll see if that satisfies copyright requirements. If not, we can probably dig up more info. Tbanks. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 15:48, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you! I appreciate the help (and the links, having came from Everything2 it's a bit overwhelming the level of control present here at Wikipedia)! I can give you some sources for the graphic in question: It was used on promo material for the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide (and on the cover, if colored differently), on the Press Kit for MST3K: The Movie, on the rental poster and the out of print DVD of The Movie. Best Brains also used it on some of their letterheads, on some Master Tapes (such as Emmy screeners). Thanks again for fixing the template tag, and really for your good work on the MST3K articles. Seems like you and I are frequenters of the same articles, hopefully making some excellent resources for other Wikipedians. Reverend Raven 16:20, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
What I'm looking for is how this image became a digital graphic. Did you take a picture of it from one of the aforementioned sources? Whatever history you might recall would be helpful. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 17:07, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
I was not the photographer of said graphic. I vaugly remember finding it way back in the day, around the era of the great eBay prop auction. If this image is in violation of Wikipolicy, I could try to scan the image from one of the screeners or other promo material I own. However, I think that we should definately find a good quality screen grab of the planet from the Comedy Central era. The reshot Sci-Fi era planet is far to dark to make out all the letters. Same for MST3K: The Movie, I think that a clean grab of the CGI planet used in the trailer/TV ads would be perfect (as compared to the boring text title). But yeah, and stuff!
