The Revolutionary Cells--Animal Liberation Brigade (RCALB) is the name of an animal liberation activist group, based in the United States, which openly advocates violence in their direct action on behalf of animals.

[edit] Organization

The RCALB is a leaderless resistance movement comprised of covert cells who have communicated their actions by anonymous communication with Bite Back, the direct-action magazine.[1]

[edit] Actions

The RCALB took credit for its first action on August 27, 2003, when two "pipe bombs filled with an ammonium nitrate"[2] were placed at Chiron corporation's offices in Emeryville, California. Chiron was targeted because of a contract with Huntingdon Life Sciences, a New Jersey-based animal testing contractor.[3]

On August 27, 2003 two bombs were placed on the campus of Chiron (corporation) in Emeryville, California. The bombs exploded at 2:55 and 4:00 AM Pacific time. [2] A group calling itself Revolutionary Cells of the Animal Liberation Brigade e-mailed a statement to reporters taking credit for the bombing. Chiron is apparently a target of violence and protests because it reportedly contracted with Huntingdon Life Sciences, a New Jersey-based animal testing contractor.

The attack has been alleged to be have been perpetrated by Daniel San Andreas, who was featured on America's Most Wanted and has been placed on the FBI's most wanted [3].

In September 2003, the RCALB took responsibility for another bombing, this time at the offices of Shaklee Inc. in Pleasanton, California. Shaklee was targeted because its parent company, Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical, does business with HLS.[4]
