Reverend J.M. Gates

Reverend J.M. Gates (1884-c.1941) was an American Christian preacher and gospel music singer. From 1914 to his death, he was the pastor of Mount Cavalry Baptist Church in Rock Dale Park, Atlanta. He had a very prolific recording career. Many of his songs were strong warnings of the hellish punishments that awaited sinners. He frequently re-recorded songs. His recordings have recently been re-released by Document Records.
