Revelations is the second single by Audioslave, from their third album Revelations. The song is believed to be about ignorance and its effects on people, its lyrics apparently being a sarcastic imitation of hero-worship.[citation needed]

It is also possible that the song it about religion. The song comments on how some religious people go about the world acting like they know something that nobody else does. It takes a sarcastic stance on how religious people assume that they hold the moral high-ground over people whose beliefs are different from their own.

It made its debut on the soundtrack of the video game Madden 07.

[edit] Music Video

The music video begins with various band members playing their instrument infront of a camera shoot. As the singing begins, a split-screen of Chris Cornell and other band members begins. As each guitar riff or drum riff kicks in, the player of that instrument gets their few seconds infront of the camera. During Tom Morello's guitar solo, the camera goes from him to drummer Brad Wilk. During the vocal solo after Morello's guitar solo, the camera tint turns to a blue color. The video ends with the microphone Cornell was using hanging from the ceiling alone.

Much like the videos for Like a Stone and Be Yourself, Revelations video is simply the band playing the song with no added dramatics.

The fact that all of the band members were filmed separately added to the speculation among fans that there was tension between band members. Rumours had already been circulating that a break up was on the horizon with the announcement of Chris Cornell's solo album, this was the indeed, the last clip Audioslave made before breaking up.
