Return of the Secaucus 7 is an American film released in 1980 written and directed by John Sayles.[1]

It tells the story of seven friends who reunite for the anniversary of their arrest ten years previously, on their way to a political demonstration.

It stars Bruce MacDonald, Maggie Renzi, Adam LeFevre, Maggie Cousineau, Gordon Clapp, Jean Passanante, and others.

The picture was thought to have served as the inspiration for The Big Chill (1983). However, at a free screening at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on April 20, 2006, writer/director Lawrence Kasdan denied having seen The Return of the Secaucus 7 before working on The Big Chill, though he praised it very highly.

The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
