Retirement job

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A retirement job is a job in which a person works after retirement. The term "retirement job" seems to be an oxymoron since retirement infers that the retiree has finished his/her working career.

The new group of retires is living longer, is in better health, and is motivated to be productive during retirement. This new group is starting second careers working in retirement jobs.

The Boomer population (born 1946 -1964) is leading this trend. The first Boomers turned 60 in 2006 and have started to retire. This entire population will retire over the next 18 years. This very large group will have a significant impact on the increase in retirement jobs.
