Batman: Return of the Joker (Genesis/SNES title "Batman: Revenge of the Joker" or the NES Japanese title "Dynamite Batman") was the title of a video game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, in 1991 and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and Game Boy in 1992. A Super NES version was developed but never released. The game was a sequel to the Batman video game that was based on the 1989 film, but was closer in its format to the comic book version of the famed Caped Crusader, specifically the 1970s incarnations of Batman.

[edit] Description
The Joker lives again in this Batman action game. The Joker has somehow managed to escape from the asylum once again, and Batman must defeat him to restore peace to Gotham City. Batman's weapons include neutrolizer, shurikens, Batarang, and crossbow.
There are 7 stages in this game. This game is one of the few Batman games that was not based directly on a movie or television series.
[edit] Gameplay
Each version of the game was essentially the same in storyline and format; however, the NES version boasted the best graphics ever seen on the 8-bit home console system. The story begins with the Joker escaping from an insane asylum, and through various henchmen, tries to send Gotham City into chaos. Batman must survive several side-scrolling levels with various tricky jumps, and defeat a multitude of enemies and bosses to ensure that Gotham is safe.
Batman is armed with a utility belt that allows him collect various types of icons throughout the stages in order to shoot different types of boomerangs and projectiles. The game's password feature also helped the game from becoming too difficult.
[edit] Trivia
If you input the password from the Gremlins game (NXRD), that will also take you to the final stage. (NES version only)
