[edit] Created template
I created this template for all the Resident Evil character articles. At the moment, it only list basic personal info about the characters such as age, gender, height and weight, although I plan on adding additional data template, such as voice actors and affiliations. Please discuss any changes here before making them. Jonny2x4 05:58, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- I have significantly edited the template by making many of the variables optional; however, the look of the template is still the same. Also, in the current version the answers do not need to be closed with a pipe (|) which many users forget to do and (in the previous version at least) everything ended up messing up. Also, instead of abbreviated values like "R/E" (race/ethnicity) I have decided to write them out since someone who doesn't already know what's supposed to go there won't have any idea what "R/E" stands for.--Mad Max 03:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
I was planning to convert this template to a series-specific sub-box for {{General CVG character}}, but I had some concerns. What's the source for all this biographical data? What relevance does marital status have? Additionally, the status doesn't make much sense given that each game is still considered to be eternally present.
I was going to keep the fields for the time being, but I don't see what purpose they serve. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:18, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, those additional parameters seemed to have been added by Pinochii (talk • contribs) here. To be honest I'm not sure what purpose "marital status" serves, but that was one of the reasons I made most of the new parameters optional. While we're at it, what's the prupose of "race/ethnicity"? Editors can't seem to agree on that issue most of the time anyway, so it should probably be removed. --Mad Max 04:52, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

- Well, at most, I was thinking of losing the height/weight, DOB, gender (since it's obvious), race, marital status, and status. Are there any of those you'd want to keep? - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:57, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
By the way, Jill Valentine has a prototype of how the template will look after being converted. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 04:58, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

- I wouldn't mind if marital status, race/ethnicity, gender, and DOB are removed. These are either pretty disputed or extremely obvious, but all pretty useless. I'm not quite sure if any of the others should be removed just yet, we'll have to call in a few more editors who are active with Resident Evil related articles and see their input. --Mad Max 05:05, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
I've found the above table is very useful. I've recently made some fairly heavy edits to Kevin Ryman and George Hamilton's pages and, as George is divorced, I felt it serves no harm to be able to add that information when available. Race/ethnicity keeps being changed to American, which is like saying that homosexuality is a gender, so I've taken to adding the race of the character, followed by his/her nationalty. For example: Race/ethnicity: Caucasian (United States) so that everybody is happy. I believe that all the boxes above should be made available, even if not absolutely necessary. However, if you guys have any particular disdain for them, I wouldn't really mind too much if you guys decide to have them removed. Gamer Junkie 14:03, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
