Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Sample
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
this is in regard to a page for Marine Captain Brent Lee Morel
when I first placed tha page, since he was a Navy cross recipient for valor and killed in Iraq, I did not really know the rules for edit, but over a period of time got the article to simply be a biographic quote with the Navy cross citation listed. I incurred no problems, until someone restored an earlier version of the page, which I was unaware of.
Just checking things in relation to another matter, I went to Brent Morels page to see a not that it was scheduled for deletion. I restored the page back to the encyclopedic version, but it was still deleted.
I feel it is important to honor recipients for medals of valor, especially those that received them posthumously
Since the article has been deleted, I am unable to trace the history of the person that did the deletion.
I have compared it with another Navy Cross recipient, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Chontosh and find the Brent Morel page to certainly be as "encyclopedic as was Brians's, but all I had to restore it was an old version.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Chontosh to compare Brian and Brent's pages.
I feel I did what was asked, making it a purely encyclopedic article with references, and asked that it not be deleted in Talk. Next thing, it is totally gone, and I have no recent backs up or history.
there were cross references there that other editors had added links to Navy cross, USMC protals, etc which will be hard to redo,.
I do not know who instigated the deletion, but the whle version history is gone.
What I do wish to do is honor a fallen brother Marine, son of a friend and have the page there as a reminder of our troops sacrifice
I did notice on a line prior to article deletion on history, that someone had made the comment inresponse to an ED remark..
"so you deleted 80% of the article... Idiot" That was not me, but I have a feeling the one of your editors de;teted the article in response to that comment.
