[edit] My email to Jimmy and Arbcom

subject Re. Daniel Brandt and my desysopping: an apology
        mailed-by gmail.com

The past few months have been difficult on me, both at first as an admin faced with the threat of Brandt, and then post-desysopping, for me as an editor. As you all may know, I went through an RFA in September but withdrew after just 28 hours. I came under heavy criticism in that, including from Arbitrators.

With the upcoming Arbitration Committee election just less than a month away now, I think it is right for me to make this apology, before any of you leave the committee. Firstly, to Jimbo. Sorry for the whole mess, as you put it back in June, a "rotten mess". I'll also take this opportunity to apologise for trying to keep up this charade. It has been difficult, but dealing with Brandt really forced my hand. So, for that, I'd like to apologise to all of you, and especially to Jimbo, who said he trusted me. That's right, that's an admission. I felt I had no other choice. I hope that, in light of the situation facing me at that time, you understand why I had to do what I did. Thirdly, again to all of you, sorry for wasting much of your precious time over the last few months with this case.

I hope that you will all accept this apology, especially Jimbo and Dmcdevit, who really tried to help me when this first broke.

So, I guess that's it. I just really had to get this out of my system. It is no longer worth wasting my time, my health, with this charade. My most sincere apologies to everyone for wasting your time, and I hope you will find it in your hearts to forgive me. I am deeply regretful for all of this that has transpired.

With most sincere apologies,

NSLE

[edit] Rundown

  • I unprotected the article, then edited as BRSG. CheckUser was done. I held back the truth until November, and perhaps, to some, until now. This includes during my September RFA. I'm not pleased, but it's now done, and as much as I would like to jump back to April 2006, I can't.
  • Yes, I have used the NSLE account intermittently since I revealed this account to be NSLE. All the edits have reasons. The most recent ones pointed out by GRBerry have to do with an autoblock and some forgetfulness on my part.
  • Yes, there are questionable edits I made with Chacor when this account had not yet been revealed as NSLE. I made a major lapse in judgement then, and I'm not proud of it. I have given my reasons for doing what I did on the two RFAs.
  • Yes, I have problems with civility. But so does everyone, I believe. We are all human. To err is human. I do try to keep my abrasiveness in check, whether successfully or not.
  • All this counted, I do believe I would do good work with the tools. Wikipedia needs admins. I would like to suggest alternatively sort of a "Carnildo solution", if some opposers are uncomfortable with me with the tools, that for an extended period, should this request be successful, of say, a year, when the ArbCom could review it or similar.
