[edit] Issues to be mediated

  • GENI opted to remove an entire file covering the history of the kidnapping of Iowa television reported Jodi Huisentruit. The profile was updated on December 9th with non-copyrighted information pulled from various public and law-enforcement websites covering the case. GENI contention is the material was copyrighted and instead of removing the areas I edited, opted to remove the entire file from Wikipedia. A search of the source material: findjodi.com and http://www.iowaonline.state.ia.us/mpic/Controller.aspx?cmd=personDetailCommand&id=94 will confirm that none of the material referenced in the updates was in fact copy righted. (It would be one thing if the material was extracted from a book published on the subject, but that is not the case here. The material is actually public knowledge and was used to update the minimal information that was appearing on Wikipedia.

[edit] Parties' agreement to mediate

All parties should sign below, indicating that they agree to mediate the issue. If any party fails to sign, or if a party indicates they do not agree, then the mediation will be rejected. Only signatures and "agree" or "disagree" should appear here; any comments will be removed.
  1. Agree.

[edit] Decision of the Mediation Committee

  • Reject: First, this is not a matter for mediation: there are no issues framed for mediation, and there is no evidence of previous attempts to resolve the issue. Second, there has been no notice to the other party. Third, the originator has not signed his agreement.

  • Reject: While there is agreement from the parties to mediate, this isn't an issue for mediation. Mediation between two parties isn't the right way to resolve an issue that affects thousands of contributors; whether to mass-tag entire categories of images is not something that should be decided between two people, which is the point of mediation. This issue is ripe for an RFC, but not RFM.

  • Issue 1; This is a serious and urgent matter. Sarah made an unfounded accusation that I have an "anti-american agenda". Even though she named Ottawaman, it is directed towards me since she states chategorically that is who I am and she made the accusation in a section discussing me.[2] That section of the incident noticeboard was soon thereafter archived. In this post 9/11 world such an accusation can be quite harmful to me personally in a variety of ways. I would like her to withdraw that accusation and apologize for it within the archived section.
