Vandalism of the Abraham Lincoln article, redirecting every link on the page to the article "Abraham Lincoln (poopypants)" which I have taken the liberty of destroying because of material that nearly made me vomit. I have left the pictures it references, Hello.jpg and Big-Black-cock.jpg on the server in case there is a sysop masochistic enough to want to view them. EagleFalconn 19:50, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Ack!!
User "24.198.49.225" (an anon IP) is systematically going through and deleting everything on Wikinews.
There is no Vandalism in Progress page on Wikinews (from what I can tell).
Please, someone with Administrative powers stop this vandal!
(I will quickly use up my 3 reverts if I try to do so myself.)
Thanks. --DV 02:35, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 24.64.223.203

  • 24.64.223.203 (talk) (contributions) user has a history of vandalism. In particular, user continually creates articles about "Lil' John" or various spellings and fills them with bogus information. One such article was deleted last week, if I remember correctly. Today, re-created an article called Lil' John which soon got a deleteagain from another user. Vandal removed the notice, which was then restored. Vandal again removed notice, at which point I restored it and the article was deleted (and then recreated as a redirect to Lil Jon, a bona fide article. I left a message on talk page requesting user discontinue actions. User responded that he thinks it's funny and that he does not plan to stop. User then replaced content of newly-created Lil' John redirect with bogus article; I then reverted it. He then created a new article, Little John, and again placed his bogus content. I do not have time to keep up with him anymore, so I am requesting help. Knowledge Seeker দ (talk) 09:57, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • I've got some time to waste, I'll keep an eye on the lot; doing RC patrol anyway. Still, an admin warning followed by 24 block might be in order. --fvw* 10:07, 2004 Nov 29 (UTC)
      • Correction/update: User had not created Little John article, just replaced its contents with his article (didn't want you to think I was inaccurate). Article has been reverted. Thanks fvw; I appreciate it. Judging from the comment on his talk page, guy seems to delight in causing the disruptions.— Knowledge Seeker দ (talk) 10:10, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Erginer

  • Erginer (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) has reverted removal of copyvio material from Kurdistan Workers Party without responding to the talk page comments I left. I'm putting this here since I don't plan to revert the article again myself. I left a note on his talk page (including "Repeatedly adding coypright material may get you blocked") I hope you will back me up on that. Note also reversion of reversion to Besiktas Jimlastik Kulubu (hist). N.B. this might be taken as a clueless newbie case, but reverting repeatedly looks like more than that. I have put correct tracking links in at the top, replacing those placed there by the vandal. This user is the same as #210.50.176.14 which also large number of random addresses from iprimus.net.au (see Lee Kuan Yew edit history going back till at least Nov 12. I'm ready to do an ISP complaint but I'd rather have comments about the proper way to go about it and/or an administrator volunteer to actually do it. Mozzerati
Looking at the wide range of IPs used, it would have to be a ban of 210.50.* in order to be completely effective. That's a much wider range than I would like to block (and I really haven't figured out range blocks yet). Catching IPs as they are used might be effective. I would start by posting warnings and requests for discussion on this user's talk page. -Aranel ("Sarah") 19:54, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
this is my thought too. I actually think it's worth trying mailing abuse (inthelocationof) iprimus.com.au with details of the vandalism 'cos at least if we eventually did have to ban 210.50.* then we could give a clear explanation that iprimus had their chance and refused to help. • Unknown person has been vandalising the sandbox.
  • How can you vandalise the sandbox?! - Ta bu shi da yu 02:38, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Well, it is possible to vandalize the sandbox. There are some actions which are taboo even in the sandbox. The biggest offense is to delete the sacrosanct DO NOT DELETE THIS LINE, OR YOU MAY BE BLOCKED line from the top. Another howler is to move the sandbox (or, more creatively, to exchange Wikipedia:Sandbox and Sandbox through creative copies and redirects). Or just add a phony vprotected notice. Compared to these, posting goats and sheep is relatively tame, but still frowned upon by a great many admins. The test2 warning, which recommends vandals to use the sandbox for their vandalism seems a tad risky: indeed as it is possible to vandalize the sandbox, the vandal might just point to a test2 warning that he got on his talk page to justify his trawlish behavior... Ympendes 22:35, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
The sandbox is intended for that kind of thing, anybody test out wikipedia there without disrupting the articles. --fvw* 02:37, 2004 Nov 26 (UTC)

  • (Forgotmytea | talk | contributions) - (Dracula the bat | talk | contributions) - (212.219.191.134 | talk | contributions)
    • I am not sure that WP:VIP is the correct place for this, but something is fishy here and i frankly don't know where else to list this...these users seem to be a bunch of sockpuppets intent on vote fraud on VfD. Things that make me suspisious:
      • All three users have been editing the same articles and consistently voted on th esame Vfd votes.
      • Dracula the bat states on his User page that the account was set up with the express purpose of voting on Vfd.
      • Forgotmytea created a "User" page called User:Dr Chicken. Such a user does not exist, the name has been used to sign Vfd votes by the above IP address [4]
      • The same IP address also did a number of edits to Dracula the bat's User page [5]
      • Additionally, Dracula the bat added an "anonymous" vote to a Vfd discussion [6] and tried to cover his tracks when I called him on it [7]
    • Now, while this might not be outright vandalism, vote fraud and disruption of the VfD process are serious enough to merit some action. Can anyone look into this? -- Ferkelparade π 14:59, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
The usual procedure for dealing with sock puppets on VfD is to point out that they are probably sock puppets. This tends to prevent them from actually accomplishing anything, and why keep doing it if it never helps? If it becomes a serious or recurring problem, then Wikipedia:Dispute resolution is the way to go. -Aranel ("Sarah") 01:40, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Hello all,

I would like to say that I take full responsibility for the sock puppet accounts - I am truly sorry about them, and I was not fully aware of the rules at the time. Please accept my humblest apologies in this matter, and I can assure you that since I was informed what I was doing was wrong, I have stopped. As Aranel said, I was informed, and have since stopped. However, I would like to say that I have never vandalised anything on Wikipedia or any site, least of all the paegs named, and I believe this accusation is wrongly leveled. If you look at my user page (Dracula the bat), then it explains what might have happened, but can I please assure you that I have never vandalised anything on here or any other site, especially the pages you have named.

Once again can I say sorry for attempting to modify the voting process, and state once again that I have never vandalised anything on this site, or any other. I only hope that this charge is dropped soon, rather than have me incorrectly branded as a vandal of this wonderful site.

Once again, I am most humbly sorry.

Thank you,

DTB

  • Thank you James, for your efforts against vandalism. I believe you have over-reacted and not identified the real problem, which was that the picture had been subverted to display the pinup variety of cheesecake, by someone else. It is a fact that for many decades, pinup pictures of "scantily clad" females, to use the hackneyed phrase, have been called "cheesecake". History of Pinup Cheesecake. Since the page has only one word in the title, it will need to either contain disambiguation text or become a disambiguation page that directs to Cheesecake (dessert) and Cheesecake (pinups). Sorry, James, but that is the only approach that makes sense. If an editor dislikes a fact, that is not sufficient reason for not including it. Also, when posting notices on this page, please use the template at the head of this section so that the user's "contributions" are immediately available to us. Hu 04:27, 2004 Nov 21 (UTC)

[edit] Oven_Fresh

  • Oven_Fresh has chosen to make a personal crusade out of vandalising my talk page over the last half hour, engaging in harassment, nonsensically accusing me of racism, because of a harmless, sarcastic remark I made regarding fancruft (I referred to "Pokemon Brats" among other enthusiasts who vehemently come out of the woodwork when one of their fancruft pages gets recommended for VfD, etc.). I deleted his/her comments on my talk page, he/she comes back and replaces them, I gave him/her two chances. I guess the truth hurts. --ExplorerCDT 02:32, 13 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 210.54.x.x probably connected to Scott Gall

  • All of these users appear to be connected to the author(s) of the Scott Gall article. To understand where he is coming from, the Scott Gall article says
Scott Gall (October 8, 1988 - present day) is a sport inventor from Dunedin, New Zealand and has many weird codes under his belt. Most of the names are portmanteau words, most of them providing for his country's national sport... One code, which came into his mind when he saw two students who use his bus stop kicking a rugby ball across the road, is called rugbennis, a mixture of rugby and tennis, which he believes to be "sin net" backwards (because it might have been a sin to serve the ball so it touches the net.)
I have the impression that he is fascinated by these "codes" and is attempting to decode them and write articles describing the sports which he believes they ought to represent.

  • (163.1.141.7 | talk | contributions) - has been active on Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Ruzwana_Bashir, they blanked this twice. The first time they blanked it [10] and started the VfD again, this could be seen as a good faith mistake. They then blanked it again [11], even though they knew not to do this. They also blanked the talk page of Ruzwana Bashir [12]. They also cleared their talk page, though this is not such a bad thing it seems they are trying to clear their tracks [13]. User has also engaged in personal attacks and legal threats [14] (they wrote "The second earliest edit of the entry includes offensive and slanderous content. Although it was reverted, it remains in the history, and is libellous. 163.1.141.7 06:07, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)"). I would say all these things are vandalism of Wikipedia. - Ta bu shi da yu 03:33, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • When I restarted VfD I thought it would be more appropriate to start afresh rather than having the lengthy previous history clogging up the main VfD page, and EXPLICITLY said to look in the history for the previous VfD discussion. I cleared the VfD page because the warning "WARNING: This page is 39 kilobytes long. Please consider condensing the page and moving the detail to another article so it is not approaching or in excess of 32KB." came up, something that has not been taken into consideration by anyone. In clearing my own Talk page I said that I had taken all the comments into consideration and wished to clear it. My "personal attack" was at someone I attempted to help by providing a link to a topic they were unsure of and received a thankless reply. This does not amount to vandalism, and I won't be posting on this site again anyway. 163.1.141.7 00:36, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Truth is not vandalism. OneGuy and Azaidi are on a godly quest to make Mohammad and Islam look perfect by supressing facts that they may be uncomfortable with.

[edit] 66.210.50.50

  • Vandalised Thomas Aquinas, has vandalised a lot in the past few months. IP is from Concordia University, Atlanta, GA. PhilHibbs 13:35, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Images by User:Cheung1303

  • Despite repeated complaints (for more than a month) on his Talk page, Cheung1303 is repeatedly uploading images without indicating where he got them. In many cases the images are clearly copyrighted. I count at least four such images in the last two days. He has been repeatedly warned on his talk page that if he continues to upload images without indicating their source it would be considered vandalism. —Steven G. Johnson 01:59, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)
(I went through his contributions history, and found literally dozens, possibly more than 100, images that had to be tagged as unverified.) —Steven G. Johnson

[edit] Joseph Cook (article)

  • An anonymous idiot called 203.10.110.145 has repeatedly vandalised this article. Adam 04:09, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • test message left on talk page. SWAdair | Talk 05:57, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • On whose talk page? Adam 07:31, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • The anon was not "experimenting," he was repeatedly vandalising the article. I have left a more useful warning. Adam 09:40, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • They know they are vandalizing, no need to wear baby gloves. I blocked 203.10.110.142, 203.10.110.144, 203.10.110.145 for a week. Thue | talk 10:48, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Gentlemen/ladies. I was under the impression that we first warn, then block if warnings are not heeded! Please clarify. - Ta bu shi da yu 14:22, 6 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Yes, it does say in the policy to warn first :/. I blocked because this was very blatant vandalism over some time, in my head the warning is to one time offenders or people who do "test" type vandalism. But in any case warnings are nice, make them appreciate that they are being watched. Thue | talk 16:45, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] George W. Bush (article) - images

  • Although the article itself is protected, vandals are getting around this by replacing images with crud. Please keep an eye on this and protect images where necessary. -- ChrisO 00:34, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
The vandals have hit more images, so I've taken the step of pre-emptively protecting all of the remaining unprotected images on that page to close any loopholes. All of the content on George W. Bush should now be protected. -- ChrisO 17:46, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 212.219.232.91

  • (212.219.232.91 | talk | contributions) created two nonsense articles, removed nonsense tag with silly explanation, then vandalized its vfd subpage, while User:Spewman removed the VFD tag on the article. @#$% kids.

  • Actually, it's getting annoying. He/she's recreated the article after being deleted, and again reverting speedy tags. JRM 00:40, 2004 Nov 3 (UTC)

[edit] Ferkeplarade

  • This username has very obviously been registered in an attempt to impersonate me and vandalize Template:vprotected. In a strange way, I feel flattered (didn't know I was so well-known around here :P), but I don't think this behavior should be encouraged in any way. -- Ferkelparade π 23:35, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 202.5.161.90

[edit] 203.23.253.10

  • 203.23.253.10 began vandalizing Genghis Khan again today and started vandalizing 2004 Osama bin Laden video. This guy went on a vandalizing spree on Genghis Khan on October 26, and made some more edits on Oct 28 (see below). Has been repeatedly warned — perhaps this IP should be blocked indefinitely. Mateo SA | talk Mateo SA 06:39, Nov 2, 2004 (UTC)
  • indefinite block sounds good to me; he has made lots of vandalism over a long time, and the IP seems to be static. No need for us to tolerate him. Blocked. Thue | talk 08:55, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Also keep an eye on User:Hobo bogon shangri lah, who seem to be connected those IPs but haven't really done anything yet. Thue | talk 08:49, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • I just got a threat at User talk:203.23.253.159: §hangri-lah and his geek hacker friends will dis ur site and will not care because their isp is shit and wont care. They will call in favours and ur site will b stuffed, even all the admin files will b deleted 2 keep the ip unbloked. Posted by special:contributions/210.49.83.9. Thue | talk 11:57, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • (210.49.83.9 | talk | contributions) also vandalized this entry, putting up a false notice that 203.23.253.10 had been unblocked (but 210.49.83.9 has now been blocked as well, however). — Mateo SA | talk 03:13, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] 61.68.139.60

  • Created user pages for the IPs 203.23.253.10 and 203.23.253.159, replacing the standard notice with vandalism. Those two addresses earlier vandalized Genghis Khan (see below). Mateo SA | talk 06:18, Nov 2, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Ciz

  • Ciz is repeatedly vandalising Talk:Zoophilia. Initially vandalised article page on which NPOV consensus had been broadly reached, article was reverted 6 times, then locked, switched to ranting, name calling and smearing despite requests by 2 sysops to refrain, an RFC was requested to attempt to respect his POVs. Has now resumed vandalism in Talk page instead. Main grudge seems to be that this is a page on social, psychological, legal aspects etc, he wishes it to be an animal abuse page and anyone not agreeing is an animal abuser. Direct link to Nov 2 2004 renewed vandalism: 17 showing deletion of other people's prior contributions.
