Statement of the dispute

InShaneee applied a block on 3 January 2007 that violated every aspect of WP:BP. He blocked me (editing anonymously at the time) because he disagreed with my removal of a tag from a talk page. His stated reason for the block was 'vandalism', when nothing that could remotely be considered vandalism had taken place. He blocked someone he was in dispute with - specifically proscribed by the blocking policy. He blocked me to gain the upper hand in a content dispute - strictly prohibited by the blocking policy. Despite discussion of his actions on WP:AN, and repeated requests on his talk page, he has refused to offer any justification of his actions.

Desired outcome

This is a summary written by users who have initiated the request for comment. It should spell out exactly what the changes they'd like to see in the user, or what questions of behavior should be the focus.

If InShaneee admitted that he either didn't understand or deliberately violated WP:BP, that would be a start. An apology for his actions would be good as well. If he deliberately violated the blocking policy I think further steps should be taken to see that his adminship is rescinded. If he just didn't understand it, then he should be placed on some kind of parole to see that he understands such key policies before attempting to use the relevant admin tools.

Description

The dispute which triggered the block was the placement of a tag on Talk:Red rain in Kerala, stating that the article came under the scope of the Paranormal WikiProject. I removed the tag [1], because there was nothing paranormal about the rain that fell in Kerala. InShaneee restored, despite agreeing that there was nothing paranormal involved [2]. I removed again, with further explanation of why it was not appropriate [3]. InShaneee restored again, saying If you don't like it, take it up in discussion. Further reversion will not be tolerated [4]. He had not taken anything up in discussion himself, and was not prepared, in fact, to allow me to, because at that point he blocked me for 24 hours, alleging vandalism [5].

Powers misused

  • Blocking (log):

Applicable policies

  1. None of my actions fall remotely within what blocks may be applied for
  2. Blocking to gain the upper hand in a dispute is strictly prohibited
  3. Blocking someone you are yourself in dispute with is strictly prohibited.

Evidence of trying and failing to resolve the dispute

  1. The issue was first raised at WP:AN. Many administrators expressed concern, but InShaneee's only response was to say that he saw his role as governing the lesser Wikipedians. Discussion is here
  2. I repeatedly asked InShaneee to offer some justification for his actions on his talk page. I never got any meaningful response. Relevant discussion is here.
