This case was refered here from Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Messhermit.
Messhermit is banned from editing Alberto Fujimori.[1][2] However, I believe that he is editing the article as 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, 74.225.187.18 74.225.227.204, 147.70.153.117, and 68.215.109.135. The following are my reasons to believe this:
- 147.70.124.59's IP is owned by Miami-Dade College.[3] Messhermit's user page claims that he is a student at this very same college.
- 147.70.153.117 also edits from Miami-Dade College. [4]
- 147.70.153.139 also edits from Miami-Dade College. [5]
- 147.70.124.109 also edits from Miami-Dade College.
- 65.2.103.216 also edits from Miami, Florida. [6]
- 68.215.109.135 also edits from Miami, Florida. [7]
- 65.2.103.216's edit summaries use the phrase "rv. Political bias detected" [8] Messhermit uses extremely similar language in his edit summaries about Peru. [9] [10][11][12][13][14] [15]
- 147.70.153.117 uses similar language [16]
- 68.215.109.135 also writes of "detecting" POV. [17]
- At one point, Messhermit acted in total defiance of the ban and edited Alberto Fujimori. [18] This creates the impression that he forgot to log out and edit as an IP.
- 65.2.103.216, 74.225.187.18, and Messhermit have rushed to defend one another on Talk:Alberto Fujimori, and are apparently in 100% agreement with each other.
- 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, 74.225.227.204 and 74.225.187.18 are all obvious Single purpose accounts [19] [20] [21] whose purpose seems to be adding Messhermit's suggestions to Peru-related articles.
- 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, User:74.225.187.18, and 74.225.227.204 have almost identicle edit histories. For example, in addition to editing the article on Fujimori, 65.2.103.216 147.70.124.59, and 147.70.153.117 all edit List of dictators. Interestingly, 74.225.187.18, although he has never edited the list of dictators, complained to User:Addhoc about the state of the list. [22]. Messhermit also edits this page.
- 74.225.187.18's complaint to Addhoc is especially suspecious because Messhermit frequently complains to Addhoc.
- Messhermit has been involved in editing Túpac Amaru Revolutionary Movement and Shining Path. 65.2.103.216 referred to these edits in the first person. [23] (Note:"Sendero Luminoso" is Spanish for Shining Path).
- Messhermit objected to a user calling himself a "human rights advocate." [24] 65.2.103.216 raised the same objection. [25] So did 147.70.124.59 [26]. So did 74.225.187.18 [27] So did 74.225.227.204 [28]
- Both 147.70.124.109 and Messhermit edit Daniel Ortega.
- Both Messhermit and 147.70.124.109 have made edits to articles relating to World War II.
- Both Messhermit and 147.70.124.109 edit Paquisha War.
- Both Messhermit and 147.70.124.109 edit Vladimiro Montesinos.
- Both Messhermit and 65.2.103.216 edit Abimael Guzmán.
- Both Messhermit and 147.70.124.59 edit Alfredo Stroessner
- 74.225.187.18 65.2.103.216,74.225.227.204, 147.70.153.117 and 68.215.109.135 all have the same ISP, BellSouth. While DNS stuff identifies two out of these five as originating in Altanta, Georgia rather than Miami, that may be due to the fact that BellSouth.net, Inc. is located at 575 Morosgo Drive Atlanta, GA.
If 65.2.103.216, 147.70.124.59, 74.225.187.18, 74.225.227.204, 147.70.153.117 and Messhermit are not the same editor, than I deeply apologize to all of them. I feel somewhat embarrassed to be the one to make such a serious accusation, but it seems to me that a wikipedian banned from editing Alberto Fujimori may be doing so.
I also ask that a decision be made on 147.70.124.109, even though he has not edited in about a month. This user, who has injected the same pro-Fujimori POV into other articles, edited Paquisha War. Messhermit is banned from editing any articles dealing with wars between Ecuador and Peru (See Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Messhermit), and it is thus important to know if 147.70.124.109 and Messhermit are the same person. --Descendall 19:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- There is a strong probability that Messhermit may be involved in the recent vandal attacks on the article Ecuadorian-Peruvian war. While most of the recent attacks have come from open proxies in Lima (see this request for investigation), the first ones came from IP addresses in Miami (which is where Messhermit apparently resides). Messhermit is banned from editing any article on the history of the Ecuadorian-Peruvian dispute for one year (see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Messhermit), and it looks an attempt at gaming the system, with the help of one or more friends from Lima.
- The fact that Messhermit came out fast to report an "edit war" between the IP users and me, (see [29]), and the wording used when he asked for a full protection of the article (see [30]), which was denied, as well as the modus operandi of the IP vandals only reinforce the suspicion that Messhermit is involved in this issue and has recruited the help of others, apparently editors of the Spanish Wikipedia.
