[edit] Jacob Peters

  • Code letter: F

Our old friend is back, POV pushing on his usual Soviet-related articles. There was a slew of edits from this account until early January, then it was dormant until today. He made an edit to the Vladimir Lenin article, again pushing his pro-Stalin POV [1]. The edit summary (including the edit summaries from this account in the past) are classic Peters. TheQuandry 15:45, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Unlikely--Mackensen (talk) 03:11, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Comment: Sure, it's "unlikely" according to the petit-bourgeois morality of checkuser. But Jacob Peters is an Enemy of the Wikipedia - let's apply summary revolutionary justice next time. I'm sure a Stalin apologist like Peters would appreciate that. MastCell 17:21, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

This IP is probably Peters. One of his other IP socks was filling up the Talk:Mengistu Haile Mariam page with OT arguments that there is no evidence for any victims of Saddam's gassing of Halabja in Kurdistan (which is patently absurd on its face; there are mountains of evidence that at least 5000 people definitely perished in that chemical attack)... Someone else came along and deleted the conversation explaining it was a Peters sock yet again... Just now the whole OT conversation was replaced by the above IP. ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 22:45, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Unnecessary. IP shows regional similarities, as a comparison with previous requests will show. This one doesn't appear to be an open proxy. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 15:37, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

Removed sourced material on Communist leaders while dismissing it as biased [3], dismisses western sources as blatantly biased [4]. Generally shows support for a pro-communist POV while dismissing other views [5], [6]. IP appears to be similar to ones already blocked as JP socks. Heimstern Läufer 04:29, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Unnecessary --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 04:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
However, I missed a step here! 68.126.252.131 blocked as open proxy. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 05:11, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

More removal of the sourced material that Jacob doesn't like on the pages that he doesn't like: see [8], [9], [10]. Same pro-Soviet POV, and the edit summaries make it blatantly apparent that we've seen this user before somewhere. And the usual incivility on talk pages at [11]. If someone could get to this quickly, it would be much appreciated. Moreschi Deletion! 19:47, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

The IP listed above is most likely Jacob Peters too. Same network range as his many other socks, same POV, and Backdash has continued an edit war the IP was involved in here [12]. --C33 20:38, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Likely. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 03:21, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

Signed 3RR page as Ploughman while editing anonymously as 68.127.38.186. Therefore, this IP should be added to the list. Rklawton 22:38, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Unnecessary -- but blocked as open proxy --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 01:22, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

User removes cited info in Jacob's usual style, multiple 3RR violations, general pro-Stalin pushing, and edit warring. See for example [17][18][19][20][21][22] Ultramarine

Likely --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 21:39, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Note that while signing as 'Ploughman', he edited the 3RR page as User:68.127.38.186, if that's any help... ፈቃደ (ውይይት) 22:32, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

User has blanked sections of Vladimir Lenin in exactly the same way as multiple JP socks have. [24]. Also blanked THIS page [25]. TheQuandry 18:20, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Confirmed. Essjay (Talk) 06:54, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

  • Code Letter: F [26]

User removes cited info from sources that Jacob loathes, same beef about Stalin not being a dictator, general pro-Stalin POV pushing, edit warring, and general trolling. See [27], [28], and [29]. Moreschi Deletion! 20:23, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Unrelated. Mackensen (talk) 17:25, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Very similar POV, the user seems to have some wikiexperience despite just handful of edits Alex Bakharev 01:03, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Clerk note: • Please provide a diff with discussion which resulted in a community ban per the requirements of code letter F. Cheers, ✎ Peter M Dodge ( Talk to MeNeutrality Project ) 01:51, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

See related discussion at ANI.

See contribs - identical pattern to Jacob Peters, same articles. Jacob Peters is currently blocked for over a month for sockpuppetry. Same edit warring with Stalinist POV on Joseph Stalin [31]. Here he reverts the inclusion of sources that he doesn't like. See also this, where he complains on the talk about sources he doesn't like. Identical pattern to our old friend, IMO. I could swear I've seen exactly that change before by the Jacob Peters account, just off to hunt. Almost the same edit, identical POV pushing, here by Jacob Peters. Moreschi Deletion! 18:43, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

  • Yes indeed! Sorry I forgot to mention that. TheQuandry 21:52, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I have added 69.105.31.69 and FBabeuf. Simply the way FBabeuf (talk contribs) signs his comments makes me think it's JP – note the signature on its own line at the end (here's the same thing from JP). Fbabeuf and 69.105.31.69 are clearly the same person based on the continuation of the edits between the two on Vladimir Lenin. -- tariqabjotu 19:52, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
  • BTW, is anyone planning to get round to this one this side of the current decade? Thanks to Tariqabjotu for helping out. Cheers, Moreschi Deletion!
  • Nah, I figured we let this one age and then bottle it as Special Reserve. Likely that all four are the same user. No comment on the IP addresses. Mackensen (talk) 12:02, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
  • I've added 204.102.211.115 to the list. Same article, same pattern, new day. Rklawton 20:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

  • Code letter: F ([32])

Looks like another JP sock. Perhaps not as obvious as previous socks because this account has no Talk page posts, but everything else is in character - pro-Stalinist edits, same sort of broken-English incivility (this time in the edit summaries), false information in edit summaries (marking edits as 'grammatical corrections' when they aren't) etc. - Merzbow 23:31, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Unlikely. Essjay (Talk) 23:51, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

  • Code letter: F ([33])

69.110.222.228's contributions are to Soviet-related topics, which are what Jacob Peters usually edits, and take a clear pro-Soviet anti-Western POV lining up with Jacob Peters's: [34], [35], [36], [37]. Perhaps most obvious is the use of the not-too-common term "agitprop" [38], which Jacob Peters also uses [39]. The tone of the IP, dismissing his opponents as illogical and spreading propoganda, is also very like Jacob Peters's. Jacob Peters has already been blocked several times for edit warring and other disruption and for sockpuppetry [40]. Heimstern Läufer 02:35, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Confirmed. Dmcdevit·t 02:43, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jacob Peters

I find this comment by 68.127.37.13 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) oddly similar to this comment by Iskra1 (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log), given they are writing about the same sentence and deriding Alan Bullock. Note that the IP was blocked as a sockpuppet of Jacob Peters (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log) (at least according to 68.127.37.13's block log). Here's another comment by Iskra1 (talk contribs) that appears to take a position similar to that taken by 68.127.37.13 (talk contribs) here. This edit by Iskra1 (talk contribs) is also a carbon-copy of this edit by 68.127.37.13 (talk contribs). I, thus, feel convinced that Jacob Peters (talk contribs) is once again evading a block through sockpuppetry. -- tariqabjotu 23:18, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

  • I'm adding the IP address of 68.127.37.13 (talk contribs) to confirm the block evasion allegation noted in the IP's block log. -- tariqabjotu 23:18, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Otto Schmidt's controversial edit [41] at Robert Conquest is almost identical of several Jacob Peters edits[42][43][44] at same page. Jacob Peters is currently blocked for avoiding blocks and sockpuppeting[45][46]. So I suspect sockpuppetry to avoid block again. Staberinde 20:06, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
