[edit] FreedomofSpeech

User:WinstonSmith, User:Tisquantum, and User:FaithfulCamp are users whose first edits approximated each other in time and whose edits are all predominantly on Police state or Talk:Police state. (Tisquantum and FaithfulCamp have not yet edited on Police state itself.) They all claim to hold the view that Cuba is not a police state while claiming that the United States, which makes one suspect of sock puppetry to, in bad faith, bolster discussion positions. (The sock puppetry suspicion was brought by User:Nescio, and after some thought, I think it might be true, given WinstonSmith and Tisquantum also both falsely claimed that the German Wikipedia article lists the United States as a police state. (See also User talk:Nescio on that issue, the discussion is here and here.) Please check to see if the three are sock puppets of each other. --Nlu (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. We've had a sudden influx of new users with similar style and opinions. There's some POV pushing, some unwarrented accusations of vandalism on users' pages, and at least one fake signature. Winston was blocked for a while, but the others have kept going. Regards, Ben Aveling 22:12, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

I would like to support the request.--Holland Nomen Nescio 05:19, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

User:Tisquantum, User:FreedomofSpeech and User:FaithfulCamp all have user pages that are similar. All were created within a day or two Winstonsmith's latest block. User:65.145.233.74 has signed one post as Tisquantum. Tisquantum has blanked this request and the discussion of it at Talk:Police state. All the above users have similar views and expressions, and have edited mainly Police State, its talk page, and the talk pages of other editors working at Police state. Regards, Ben Aveling 02:01, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

24.11.91.3 has joined the talk, although he signed as VinnyCee [1]. The two have a lot of the same pages in their edit history and a lot of vandalism edits. On his user page, VinnyCee claims "I am a Violetriga's boss." [sic] VinnyCee has not edited PoliceState but seems to have much the same style and POV as the other suspected socks. As it turns out VinnyCee-talk and 24.11.91.3 are the same.[2] Furthermore, VinnyCee has now started an edit war trying to insert the US as police state for which this user has been blocked also.[3] --Holland Nomen Nescio 11:05, 7 February 2006 (UTC) Another recently created account, User:WaynaQhapaq, has joined the discussion with the same POV pushing and apparent experience. Sophy's Duckling 02:17, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

And another new user behaving, well, oddly BushRules (talk · contribs · logs · block user · block log). BushRules has been blocked for NPA until 07:15, 11 February, so any editing before then by any of the above, or any new socks, might be a violation. Regards, Ben Aveling 08:31, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

BushRules has since been blocked indefinitely. --Nlu (talk) 03:57, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Results: FreedomofSpeech; Tisquantum; FaithfulCamp are all the same user. BushRules is not obviously connected but may be. WaynaQhapaq does not appear to be connected from what I can see. —Matthew Brown (T:C) 13:10, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
