Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Kven/Evidence
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anyone, whether directly involved or not, may add evidence to this page. Please make a header for your evidence and sign your comments with your name.
When placing evidence here, please be considerate of the arbitrators and be concise. Long, rambling, or stream-of-conciousness rants are not helpful.
As such, it is extremely important that you use the prescribed format. Submitted evidence should include a link to the actual page diff; links to the page itself are not sufficient. For example, to cite the edit by Mennonot to the article Anomalous phenomenon adding a link to Hundredth Monkey use this form: [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anomalous_phenomenon&diff=5587219&oldid=5584644] [1].
This page is not for general discussion - for that, see talk page.
Please make a section for your evidence and add evidence only in your own section. Please limit your evidence to a maximum 1000 words and 100 diffs, a much shorter, concise presentation is more likely to be effective. Please focus on the issues raised in the complaint and answer and on diffs which illustrate behavior which relates to the issues.
If you disagree with some evidence you see here, please cite the evidence in your own section and provide counter-evidence, or an explanation of why the evidence is misleading. Do not edit within the evidence section of any other user.
Be aware that the Arbitrators may at times rework this page to try to make it more coherent. If you are a participant in the case or a third party, please don't try to refactor the page, let the Arbitrators do it. If you object to evidence which is inserted by other participants or third parties please cite the evidence and voice your objections within your own section of the page. It is especially important to not remove evidence presented by others. If something is put in the wrong place, please leave it for the arbitrators to move.
The Arbitrators may analyze evidence and other assertions at /Workshop. /Workshop provides for comment by parties and others as well as Arbitrators. After arriving at proposed principles, findings of fact or remedies, Arbitrators vote at /Proposed decision. Only Arbitrators may edit /Proposed decision.

[edit] First assertion
Violations of WP:SOCK and WP:VAND on articles.
During the last 2 months, article Kvens of the past has been under sock puppet revert war, as well as Kvens (example [11]), Kings of Kvenland ([12]) and Kven language ([13]). Situation seems to have started earlier last year already. The revert is always to the same kind of half-imaginatory POV content (like [14]), that the user wants to push in Wikipedia in a way or another. Content overlaps and conflicts with several articles, user insisting that all related pages should be merged and replaced with his article. User often marks his vandalism as minor edits (example [15]). Constant article reverts have been done under sock puppets Orossius talks (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Hejsan to all ! (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Hej på dig (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Steve Wondering (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), PauWau (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), It'sAparty (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), WeBeToys (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Stimulater (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Kvenland's sons (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) and so on.
User has only today (15.09.2006) adopted at least 4 more sock puppets that go on tampering the aforementioned articles (AnythingNew (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), What on earth (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Svensk unity (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Oikio Aikio (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log)). --Drieakko 13:30, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
The same behavior goes on without any change. [16], [17], [18]. --Drieakko 13:56, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
The user is also spreading this to article about Varangians. [19]. --Drieakko 14:10, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Second assertion
Violations of WP:SOCK and WP:VAND on talk pages.
Sock puppets have taken over the related talk pages, the user pushing his POV under additional user names Kven kings (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), What on earth (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log)(not a real username, only a fake signature), Wikipedians against vandalism (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Swedish girl (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) and so on. All sock puppets ignore criticism presented against his actions and ideas in the talk page, making reasonable discussions with him difficult.
User usually expresses himself in Talk:Kven and Talk:Kvens of the past in an intimidating way, calling other users "proven vandals" and trying to turn discussions personal (example [20]). He is posting more or less the same long rants over and over again and lately also to several talk pages (Talk:Kven, Talk:Kvens of the past, Talk:Kven language, example [21], [22], [23]), trying to prevent any normal discussions before others have approved of his POV. Lately other users (including me) have started to revert his repeated posts (examples [24], [25], [26], [27]) on the related talk pages, in addition to his actions on the articles themselves. --Drieakko 04:15, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
This week's sock puppets on talk pages seem to be at least Controlling vandalism (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Andopov G. (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Kvenland's daughters (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) and Derbigum (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log). --Drieakko 16:17, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

- March 6, 2006 -- [31] Annika Berg (talk • contribs) doing the same to user:Big Adamsky
[edit] Kven-User misuses talkpages
The use of multiple sock-puppets on one and the same page, confuses the reader. Kven-User has also a habit of addressing his other sockpuppets, as though he has the support of many.
- August 29, 2006 -- 213.139.172.66 (talk • contribs) (signing as Steve Wondering (talk • contribs)) makes an edit demanding the article be restored to the version of user:Digi Wiki [32]
[edit] Kven-User is impossible to reason with
Here I will present that Kven-User makes the same arguments over and over again, and that discussions are futile.
- General
- As a response to the RfC initiated against him, he responded with >20 pages of rants: Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Kven_users_RfC#Response
- An archived talk page shows endless rants, most of them from Kven-User. Talk:Kven/Archive 1.
- March, 2006 -- User:Mikkalai/arkven#Kven again show the way Kven-User discusses, this time with the username Factual approach (talk • contribs)
- Specific
- March 22, 2006 -- Wikipedians against vandalism (talk • contribs) makes a 7kb (7,100 characters) post [33] under three different headers.
- May 21, 2006 -- 84.248.75.178 (talk • contribs) (signing as Art Dominique (talk • contribs)) a 5,1kb post with two headers [34]
- September 1, 2006 -- Steve Wondering (talk • contribs) makes a 5,5kb edit, again under three different headers [35]
- Other users give up
I have seen several users giving up on the Kven-User, saying "this isn't going to get anywhere. Why not just block him".
- April 12, 2006 -- An anonymous user (now registered as Kraak (talk • contribs)) active in April-May 2006 finally said "Why do I bother" (Talk:Kven/Archive 1#A Reply to Art Dominique/Max)
- May 12, 2006 -- Uppland (talk • contribs) said "well, I just feel that with all the bullshit, I wonder why this user can't just be indefinitely blocked. Why do we have to go through all the trouble?" [36]
[edit] Kven-User has made a vaste number of edits that have been reverted
I am awaiting answer from user:Mikkalai whether a CheckUser ever revealed which the sockpuppets were. / Fred-Chess 14:27, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
I will for the time being assume that those names listed at User:Mikkalai/arkven#Alphabetic list are all the same user. The pattern is rather obvious.
I assume here, that the edits were reverted because of consensus, mostly because they lacked verified sources. They are all the same pattern: They introduce material to make the Kvens seem more important.
The Kven-User started out by editing the articles Varangians and Kven in December 2005, and was reverted as follows:
- To Varangians:
- December 1, 2005 -- [37] Adam Bishop (talk • contribs) reverts 213.216.199.10 (talk • contribs)
- December 3, 2005 -- [38] user:Ghirlandajo reverts 213.216.199.10 (talk • contribs)
- December 3, 2005 -- [39] Adam Bishop reverts 213.216.199.10
- December 3, 2005 -- [40] Wiglaf (talk • contribs) reverts 213.216.199.10
- December 5, 2005 -- Wiglaf reverts a Kven-User [41]
- December 5, 2005 -- Mikkalai reverts a Kven-User [42].
- December 23, 2005 -- Ghirlandajo reverts Carolina de la Gardie (talk • contribs) [43]
- To Kven:
- To Kings of Kvenland:
- Protections
- Article Kven has been protected/semi-protected three times: By user:SlimVirgin 13-18 March, 2006 (vandalism, sockpuppetry ) ; By myself (Fred-Chess) 22-23 March 2006 (Lack of constructive additions) ; by user:Mikkalai 5 April 2006-henceforth ([no reason given]). [50]
- Article Kvens of the past has been semi-protected two times: By user:Mikkalai 1-23 Aug 2006 (sockpuppet revert war), by myself (Fred-Chess) 2 Sep 2006-henceforth (repeated sock-puppet problem) [51]
[edit] Evidence presented by Labongo
[edit] User has vandalized many Northern Norway municipality articles
Violations of WP:VAND, on articles about muncipalities, villages, and rivers in Finnmark and Troms. Using several accounts including sock puppet Skalvelv (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) and anonymous user 213.216.199.2 (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) the user has used cut-and-paste to add the same incorrect POV history section to many articles (one example: [52]).Labongo 14:53, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User has violated WP:NPA
Violations of WP:NPA on talk pages including Talk:Kven and Talk:Kvens of the past. Using sock puppets, anonymous user posts, or anonymous users "signing" as sock puppets, the user has accused editors disagreeing with him as vandals [53], threatened to delete or vandalize other editors comments [54], and deleted comments [55].Labongo 15:07, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User has created parallel versions of Kven article
The user has attempted to create a parallel version of the Kvens article by creating articles using a different spelling of the word such as [Kveeni] and [Kvæn].Labongo 10:04, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User has changed redirects
The user has changed redirect pages to the Kvens and Kvens of the past articles. One example: [Kvenland]. This and other redirects were protected after a request for protection [56] was posted on Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.Labongo 10:14, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User uses sockpuppets in revert war
Today October 11. The user has been involved in an edit war on Kvens, Kven language and Kvens of the past using the users Gunnar Holm 2 (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Greate one (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log), Goodevening (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) and 213.216.199.10 (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log). Example: [57]Labongo 14:14, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] User only reverts articles
This is a hard accusation to prove. I present it in order to allow others, including the Kven user, to prove me wrong.
Since the end of July the user has only reverted articles to his own older version. All of his reverts have been reverted. So the user has not contributed with any improvements to the Kven articles since the end of July.Labongo 12:40, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Evidence presented by user Kraak
First of all I want to inform everyone that I have contributed to the article Kvens of the past using different IP addresses starting with 217 and 130. I am the user sighing "Why do I Bother", mentioned by Fred-Chess. My apologies for the mess.
[edit] Kven User assumes the name of another, well-known person
I suspect that Oikio Aikio is another sock-puppet of Kven User. "Oikio Aikio" means "Real Aikio" in Finnish. This seems to be a very crude attack against Ante Aikio, a relatively well-known Sami linguist who contributes to the English Wikipedia using his real name. In the edit history page of Kings of Kvenland, "Oikio Aikio" has claimed Ante Aikio to be a "fake Aikio"! Kraak 06:27, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Evidence presented by user Ante Aikio
This message is just to confirm the blatant personal attack against me that user Kraak already reported above. I edit the Wikipedia under my real name Ante Aikio. I have noticed that there is an ongoing edit war in a number of Kven-related articles, caused by user Steve Wondering and his sockpuppets, but I have not been following this closely. However, on 15 September 2006 10:51-10:55, I reverted three vandal edits by this user at Kven [58], Kvens of the past [59] and Kings of Kvenland [60]. After this the user apparently created a sockpuppet Oikio Aikio, meaning 'the real Aikio' in Finnish (oikio is a dialectal form of oikea 'right, real'), and reverted my edits at Kings of Kvenland [61], calling me "the fake Aikio" in the edit summary. --AAikio 06:57, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
