Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/GreekWarrior/Proposed decision
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
all proposed
After considering /Evidence and discussing proposals with other Arbitrators, parties and others at /Workshop, arbitrators may place proposals which are ready for voting here.
Arbitrators should vote for or against each point or abstain.
- Only items that receive a majority "support" vote will be passed.
- Items that receive a majority "oppose" vote will be formally rejected.
- Items that do not receive a majority "support" or "oppose" vote will be open to possible amendment by any Arbitrator if they so chooses. After the amendment process is complete, the item will be voted on one last time.
Conditional votes for or against and abstentions should be explained by the Arbitrator before or after his/her time-stamped signature. For example, an Arbitrator can state that she/he would only favor a particular remedy based on whether or not another remedy/remedies were passed.
On this case, 0 Arbitrators are recused and 6 are inactive, so 5 votes are a majority.
- For all items
Proposed wording to be modified by Arbitrators and then voted on. Non-Arbitrators may comment on the talk page.

[edit] Community bans and second chances
1) Users who exhaust the community's patience, repeatedly engaging in disruptive behavior, may be banned upon community consensus. However, banned users with prior productive edits who believably repent of their previous behavior and promise to edit constructively may be readmitted under restriction.

[edit] GreekWarrior banned
1) GreekWarrior was banned by the community for severe disruptive behavior, including racist comments, personal attacks, edit warring, block evasion with sockpuppets, vandalism, and general trolling. [1] (evidence) In response, GreekWarrior has brought this arbitration case, acknowledging his mistakes ("I was clearly wrong on these occasions" and "I have admitted I was wrong. I will try to change.") and promising only constructive edits if allowed back.

[edit] GreekWarrior has recently used a disruptive sockpuppet for evasion
2) CheckUser confirms that on October 24, after his promises of reform, GreekWarrior registered the account DigenisAkritas (talk • contribs) and used it to evade his ban. The account was used, among other things for racist slogans and threatening solicitation of meatpuppetry.

[edit] General
[edit] Motion to close
[edit] Implementation notes
Clerks and Arbitrators should use this section to clarify their understanding of the final decision--at a minimum, a list of items that have passed. Additionally, a list of which remedies are conditional on others (for instance a ban that should only be implemented if a mentorship should fail), and so on. Arbitrators should not pass the motion until they are satisfied with the implementation notes.
- On this case, 0 Arbitrators are recused and 6 are inactive, so 5 votes are a majority.
At this time the sole principle and both findings of fact pass 7-0. Remedies 1 and 2 (Ban reduced to suspended sentence and Ban reduced to 3 month probation) fail. Remedy 3 and 4 (One year ban and subsequent probation) pass 7-0 and 6-0 respectively. Thatcher131 13:57, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
