[edit] Y0u
Final (10/0/1) ending 21:48 30 June 2005 (UTC) Well, I've been here awhile, regularly do RC patrol, feel that I would do a better job of this if I could use the rollback button, were able to delete obvious speedy deletion candidates, and block persistent vandals and those who break the 3RR, so I decided to go ahead and nominate myself. - Support Great user, fights vandalism AND newbie-friendly. Grue 10:17, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Support. To me Y0u seems like a fine RC patroller who would make good use of administrator tools. Sjakkalle (Check!) 14:48, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Support Great user who would make good use of the extra tools while RC patrolling and helping users. Jtkiefer 02:43, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

- Change to support. Did a little more research, I liked the responses to objections and issues raised. --Scimitar 29 June 2005 16:31 (UTC)

Oppose
Neutral
Oppose. I'm sorry, but I have a rule: oppose a self-nom that fails to place the nomination in the self-nom section. To not place the nomination in the correct box shows lack of care. This isn't anything personal; I just don't think that was very graceful for an admin-prospect. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 21:53, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC) Neutral. Okay, that's been fixed. However, I'm not seeing enough experience. You do a lot of good things, like welcoming and such, but convince me that you are admin-material. Answer the generic questions for admin prospects, as well. Linuxbeak | Talk | Desk 22:01, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)Neutral. I may change my mind depending on what other people bring forward, but I like to see admins have some experience with article development, something that in my opinion is at the heart of Wikipedia. That said, you seem to do a lot of good things.--Scimitar 23:29, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)- Neutral. Even as recently as a month ago I've seen some indication of lack of knowledge of basic policy. That's not the end of the world, but I would reiterate the request to read the important policies (starting at WP:SR to make it easier would be fine), and especially the admin reading list. If you don't get promoted this time due to lack of support, I'm sure you will next time. - Taxman Talk June 28, 2005 21:32 (UTC)
- I'd like to comment that I've done quite a bit of reading up on policy (including both specific pages that Taxman suggested, just to make sure I knew it well enough) before and since nominating myself. You (Talk) June 28, 2005 21:39 (UTC)
Comments
- Y0u have, according to Kate's Tool, approximately 1700 edits. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 23:52, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I now have nearly 2,000 edits according to Kate's Tool. You (Talk) June 30, 2005 20:47 (UTC)
- I WOULD vote for Y0u because I know him in real life and know that he would be a great administrator, but I am a new user and Y0u was afraid that it would look like a sock puppet vote if I did. Jesus...Lover of my soul 00:13, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. Mostly blocking persistent vandals (after they are fairly warned) and deleting obvious speedy candidates; in other words, the same RC patrol I'm doing now only with admin powers.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. While not articles, welcoming a great number of new users, and also patrolling for vandals on RC.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. The closest thing to an editing conflict over page content I've been in was a conflict in the early stages of the article Computer and video games that have been considered the greatest ever. I added (what I saw as) a list of games that have been commonly cited as the "greatest ever," (making a point of not adding any of my favorites,) another user replaced it with a list of best-selling games, I left the best-selling games list in but added my list back into the article, and the other user reverted it, saying that my list was "inherently POV." At this point, seeing that several other users were working on the article, I walked a way for a little while, admitting that I had no sources to cite. When I came back, the article looked much as it does now, better that I could ever hoped to make it myself. I stay very calm and am very patient in Wikipedia conficts, so no, I would not say that other users have caused me stress.
