[edit] The Placebo Effect
(1/10/3); Withdrawn 20:54, 10 January 2007
The Placebo Effect (talk • contribs) I am a user who helps out in various ways around the project. The Placebo Effect 00:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I accept this nomination. The Placebo Effect 00:13, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
I believe that I may be trusted to be an admin. The only blemish that I have on my record was back in my early days, I created the page Camp PMI, where I worked over the summer. It was deleted in a couple months. A few more months later, another camp associated with Camp PMI had an article and I recreated the article at Camp PMI (GSR). When I did this, I knew nothing about the deletion polices and was only looking after self want. Now that I have clearly read the deletion policies, I have no intention of doing anything like that ever again.
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog and Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I would start by deleting the articles on the speedy delete list. Recently, I have gone and nominated pages for speedy deletion, and it would save another administrator the task of having to delete an article if I can delete it after I tag it.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: I am proud of the work I did at List of Avatar: The Last Airbender episodes.. I was able to work the list to Featured list status after having to deal with other editors of the WP:AVATAR Wikiproject who insisted on keeping the summaries the way they were.(more on that in the next question.)
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: While is working to promote the above list to featured status, many of the other editors in the project insisted on using the summaries given by Nickelodeon in the episode description, even though it was explained that they were copyvios. The only thing that I believe I could have done better was I could have talked about it more on the talk page instead of reverting it to the version I believed was correct. I have learned since then that I should not stress out about things like that and to talk about them on the talk page if their is a disagreement.

Oppose
- Oppose. Feel free to try in the future, but with under 1000 edits I can't see this passing, suggesting withdrawal. --Wizardman 00:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- No project experience to warrant need for tools. – Chacor 00:29, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose You have only 913 edits in total; 557 mainspace, 127 Wiki and 19 Wiki talk. You need more to demonstrate an adequate grasp of the details of Wikipedia policy which an admin must have.--Anthony.bradbury 00:33, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Your talk page doesn't yield good results, including a WP:CIV warning. Cheers to 2007! User:Sp3000 00:44, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Not enough interaction with other users, not a huge amount of Wiki edits either. I'd try again when you've involved yourself in more dicussions and have racked up a lot more Wiki edits.Ganfon 02:33, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- OpposeSorry, after a few more months and a few thousand edits, possibly. But right now, you need to get a little more involved and check out WP:CIVIL. Hope you have better luck next time. Alex43223 Talk | Contribs | E-mail | C 04:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - too early. According to my criteria, I'd like to see at least 1500 edits and some more activity to show enough experience to be an admin. Insanephantom (please comment on my Editor Review!) 09:01, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose needs much more experience, edits, and time around. You'll need to work on your edit summary usage too. ← ANAS Talk? 14:05, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Anas. --tennisman sign here! 18:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Too little experience, and, well, the only vote in support is that user's second ever edit. Sandstein 19:30, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Neutral
- Unjudgeable candidate. On the positive side, I see an AfD participation level that's rather decent given his overall number of edits and what talk contributions he has seem good. On the negative side though, I cannot find anything that would indicate a strong understanding of policy in general. By which I do not refer to Wikipedia: space edit count, but even things like interfacing with new users and trying to teach them how things work. I suggest withdrawal for now. --tjstrf talk 00:53, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Neutral for lack of experience, so I recomend withdrawal at this time. Why not provide some diffs for your answer to question three? (aeropagitica) 06:33, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Neutral I agree with (aeropagitica), you certainly could benefit from more experience. Thus, I recomment you withdraw.-- danntm T C 17:38, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
