[edit] Ryan524
Final (0/6/0) ended 03:54, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Ryan524 (talk • contribs) – I have been a member of Wikipedia for a long time, although have been offline alot recently, I am back. I have been an admin on the English Wikinews, and have been awarded the Medal of Persistence, see My Awards Case and My Wikinews UserPage. I look foward to being able to help to a greater degree with vandalism with the additinal powers of a sysop here on Wikipedia. Ryan B. (Talk, contributions) 03:13, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: Self Nomination. Ryan B. (Talk, contributions) 03:19, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Ok I just have to say...everyone (so far) has acted like its such a big deal I don't have 500 edits here, their is NO policy stating you must have x edits to be a sysop. Furthermore I am sure if you added my edits between Wikipedia, Wikinews (where I am a sysop in good standing), and Wikibooks...I would have over 500 edits, so just because i don't limit myself to contributing to one wikimedia project or just because i've been busy with school alot recently, until now, I think that it is rather unfiar to simply say oppose without realizing: NO I don't need to be a sysop to manage vandalism, but it makes the job much easier, and concitering my track record all thoughout wikimedia projects, I don't think you can possibly think its not likley i would misuse any powers. With or without sysop status I can do what I need to do, but I can do it more effectivly with sysop status, and if you don't think I deserve tp become a sysop, fine, but don't be to quick to dismiss or criticize, it seems rathe rude to me.
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog and Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I plan on working primarily on vandalism, as that is a big problem, I also have plans to work on finding and deleting articles that don't belong on Wikipedia, in accordance with policy (which i have kept up on despite not being able to contribute with school). I also plan on working on some of the articles that are not quite at their best (with or without becomming an admin)
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: All my reverts of vandalism, does that count? but seriously my work is maily in anti-vandalism, and I feel that the tools of admins will help make me that much more useful.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Not on Wikipedia, but on Wikinews, I was working on some breaking news, it gets really busy but with a little persistance, you don't get an edit conflict.
- General comments
- See Ryan524's edit summary usage with mathbot's tool. For the edit count, see the talk page.
- Just to let you know, you should probbaly be answering all of the questions before adding it on the RfA page. --Wizardman 03:16, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Oppose
- Oppose. Sorry, not active enough. You have under 500 edits and weren't even active for the last two years. --Wafulz 03:23, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose I'm sorry with fewer than 500 edits overall and fewer than 10 in the last 2 years, there isn't enough of a record to judge your suitableness for adminship. The answers to the standard questions are very weak: for example you can fight vandalism without the admin tools. I appreciate your experience on WikiNews but personally I need to see experience on en.wikipedia before I am comfortable giving out the tools here. I suggest gaining some more, recent experience and then trying again in a few months. Good luck, Gwernol 03:24, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose with these answers to questions, it makes me wonder how you became an admin in wikinews in the first place, plus with few edits since January 2005 and less than 500 edits please withdraw Jaranda wat's sup 03:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Same reasons as Wafulz basically. Take several months to become reacquainted with Wikipedia. A lot has changed around here in the time I've been here and I've only been here since December
20062005. So you've probably missed a lot. Metros232 03:26, 8 January 2007 (UTC)- I believe Metros232 means December 2005, not 2006. :) Newyorkbrad 03:31, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Something like that :) It just all blurs together Metros232 03:32, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose per edit count and above. Yuser31415 03:36, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Gwernol. You need more than 500 edits to be an admin and you must demonstrate a serious attitude in order to have the extra tools. You might be a serious person, but your answers were answered poorly and without much thought. The RfA is a serious deal. Adminship is not something that Wikipedia throws away to everyone. Advice for you: spend 5-6 more months on the English Wikipedia, make a lot of useful edits (just don't get editcountis), read over the admin reading, get some admin coaching, take some virtual classroom classes, and we'll see from there. If you do that, and try again for RfA, then we'll probably see the votes change. Cheers, lovelaughterlife♥talk? 03:49, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
