Rhythmnation2004 (talk • contribs) – Dedicated to ending vandalism and encouraging neutrality Rhythmnation2004 00:51, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I have nominated myself and hereby certify my acceptance. Rhythmnation2004 00:58, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog and Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I am particularly interested in becoming a Wikipedia administrator because I want to do all I can to make sure that Wikipedia is neutral, free from vandalism, and is as encyclopedic as possible. No school should have to tell its students that Wikipedia isn't a reliable source. I am dedicated to ending vandalism by crazed fans and immature teenagers. I believe adminship will help me accomplish these goals by allowing me to temporarily block vandals and protect pages. I witness constant and repeated vandalism on a daily basis, and I believe that as an administrator, I will be able to end that.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: I am especially proud of my contributions on the pages related to La Toya Jackson. I have created pages for every one of her albums and singles, and have also added sources to the main article and created an article for her autobiography. I have also helped tremendously to end vandalism on Raven-Symoné-related articles, particularly the pages dealing with her albums. I have also contributed a notable amount of images to Wikipedia and have managed to catch grammatical and editorial mistakes that have been otherwise ignored throughout Wikipedia.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Like all users, I have indeed been in conflicts with others. When I first registered, I made many mistakes when it came to dealing with administrators, and was a part of several edit wars. However, as I have continued to contribute and expand Wikipedia, I have realized my wrongdoing and have truly changed my ways. Instead of taking matters into my own hands, I have reported issues to administrators and have managed to have several pages protected or semi-protected from vandalism. I believe that in the future, I plan to work things out with other users, as opposed to becoming agressive. I truly do believe that my abilities in mediation will help to make Wikipedia an all-around more peaceful place to study and perform research.
- General comments

- In response to opposition comments:
- I have constructed a legitimate request for adminship. I have receieved nothing but opposition, despite the fact that I have clearly stated my reasons for the request and how I could benefit Wikipedia. The administrators need to learn how to share their "power". The way Wikipedia is currently being run is ridiculous. Schools won't even allow their students to use Wikipedia, because it is no longer a reliable source. As an admin, I could stop that. Ending vandalism is what I want to do, and I truly believe that this could greatly improve Wikipedia. Rhythmnation2004 01:30, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- Assuming bad faith on behalf of the voters (not all of whom are administrators anyway) and criticising the way Wikipedia is run currently, isn't likely to engender support among users. Trebor 01:36, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- In response to the comment by Sp3000, my talk page clearly describes why I choose to clear my talk page messages. I have not been asked to refrain from doing so, and that should not be held against me in my RfA. Rhythmnation2004 01:31, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- You mean, you personally can stop Wikipedia being unreliable, and end vandalism totally? --Majorly 01:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- To clarify, I believe that I can reduce vandalism whenever I see it. Of course I won't be able to end it completely, but I can certainly improve it. Many vandalisms are ignored currently - as an administrator, I can help to end it. Rhythmnation2004 02:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- In fact, normal users can as well, Except, they have to report it, but believe it or not most users who vandalise give up quickly. --Majorly 02:21, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- No need for adminship. No obvious improvement since last RFAs (on the 17th and 19th of September respectively). – Chacor 01:02, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- "No need for adminship" - apart from the user saying they'll block vandals and protect pages. --Majorly 01:07, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose: Not enough general experience, stick around for a few months and participate in AfD soem more, then we'll see.--Wizardman 01:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose. Sorry, not enough activity in non-mainspace issues for me, and more experience in general would be preferred. There's more to being a good admin than fighting vandalism. Trebor 01:13, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose My comments in your original RfA application still obtain - more experience required in admin-related tasks. Recommend withdrawal at this time. (aeropagitica) 01:17, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose No need for adminship. No edits to some key pages. Mostly per what Chacor said. Also, deleting talkpage messages. Carpet9 01:22, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose No need to delete talk page messages --The preceding comment was signed by User:Sp3000 (talk•contribs) 01:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose per Sp3000, and the message on your talk page. --Majorly 01:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - I'm still trying to get my mind around this: I witness constant and repeated vandalism on a daily basis, and I believe that as an administrator, I will be able to end that. You'll be able to personally end Wikipedia vandalism? You'll be able to end the vandalism that you yourself see (that would be, presumably, by blocking anyone suspected of planning to continue vandalizing)? What exactly could this sentence possibly mean, other than that you had to add something to avoid a short answer? John Broughton | (♫♫) 01:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose - Original statement is too simple and response to opposition is definitely NOT admin quality. Scobell302 01:53, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Per everyone, sorry. Also low wikispace edits. Arjun 01:54, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose unapologetically. You have no need for admin tools (frankly, given your comments, I think you would misuse them) and your dismissive and self-serving attitude towards the opposition is nothing but contemptible. Your attitude on this RfA is in direct contradiction with your intentions stated in your answer to question #3. And your message on your talkpage seems to be an attempt to turn your talkpage into a vanity board. "Only constructive criticism"? Don't freely expect that to happen as an editor, let alone an administrator. And it is convention not to "clean" your talkpage, but to archive it. This issue alone shows your woeful lack of knowledge of Wikipedia processes, a prerequisite for adminship. --210physicq (c) 02:16, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Neutral
- Neutral: Minor concern over whether the candidate knows image policy, I'll hold off until that's resolved. --Kind Regards - Heligoland 02:10, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
