[edit] NSR

Final (12/5/1) ending 13:57 29 August 2005 (UTC) NSR (talk contribs)

I have been een a registered editor for Wikipedia since 13 May 2005 and have over 2700 edits. I have also edited anonymously for a long time, after discovering Wikipedia in late 2002. I recieved a message about adminship so I have decided to nominate myself. Since I do a lot of maintenence work adminship would be useful for me.

Edit count for NSR

  12. Support. Not bad at all. I myself started off as an anonymous editor for months on end, and then I got crazy enough to register a username. Before I reached my 3rd month mark, I was nominated and elected for adminship. I don't see why you shouldn't be any different, given the fact that you're an active editor and vandal-fighter. 2. Oppose per Astrotrain. freestylefrappe 04:56, August 26, 2005 (UTC)
  3. Oppose, lack of experience, barring answer to question below. siafu 17:38, 28 August 2005 (UTC)
  4. Strong Oppose – The user has not specified an email ID as of this post. If he blocks someone, how is that person going to contact him? User:Nichalp/sg 19:25, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
  5. Oppose An Administrator must not be deterred by vandals, no matter how many. Derktar 15:31, August 29, 2005 (UTC).

Neutral

  1. Not sure yet. Relatively short time editing balances the number of edits. Seems like on the right track with comments, though I'd like this see them fleshed out a little better. Would likely support a few months down the line. – Friejose 15:32, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

Comments

  • Q:We can only see a few months of activity. What did you do when editting anonymously for 2.5 years? siafu 05:00, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Question: Could you describe what you would take into account when closing a VfD? Hipocrite 13:37, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Question I would like to know, what percentage specifically (within 5%) would you consider to be consensus when closing a VfD or related function? Hamster Sandwich 20:48, 25 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Comment Has he left? He blanked his user page and talk page and his last contribution was 2 days ago. Seems odd that he would leave during his RFA. Jobe6 05:00, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
Comment see the end of Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Anyone_else_getting_tired_of_this.3F. It was vandalized by an anon and then he didn't restore it all the way (or the anon could have been him...) Ryan Norton T | @ | C 05:07, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. Dealing with spam/vandalism, my watchlist is constantly growing and a rollback button would really help. Helping clear out admin backlogs and various maintenence work. I currently help with closing VFD discussions where the result is keep and would like to help out with delete results as well.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I have created many missing articles and redirects as part of the missing articles wikiproject, including many translations from other Wikipedias. I have also created several useful templates such as Template:rcnamespaces (which makes RC patrol easier), template:userbox and template:logs. A list of my work is on my user page. I have also been working on wikifying articles (a much neglected task on Wikipedia) and helping out with the maintenence collaborations.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. Most of the conflict I have came across is from vandals and spammers. To avoid conflict I read talk pages and histories of articles I plan to edit. I have had very few complaints about my editing so far. I have a large watchlist of over 2000 articles which I check for any problems.

[edit] Comments regarding the closure of this nomination

Boothy443's vote is removed because (a) Boothy443 is believed to be a sockpuppet of a banned user, and (b) Boothy443 has a pattern of making unhelpful votes at RFA.

70.5% of votes are in support, falling short of the usual ratio for promotion of 75-80%.

There are some unanswered questions from late in the comment period. While in other circumstances it might be wise to extend the duration of the vote to permit NSK to respond to them, he appears to have left the project for a time. Therefore, I have closed this RFA without promotion. The Uninvited Co., Inc. 16:44, 29 August 2005 (UTC)
