[edit] Jondel

Final (40/0/0) ending 02:06 6 August 2005 (UTC) Jondel (talk contribs)

I came to the realization recently that there don't appear to be any administrators who mainly edit Philippine-related articles. I think administrators like that are needed. I feel that Jondel is suited for the job because he's been a very active Wikipedian since his first edit in January of 2004. He knows his stuff and I don't think I've seen him engaged in any heated edit wars. He has the characteristics that I would look for in an administrator. --Chris 02:08, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:

I accept. I will definitely work to make wikipedia a fun and enjoyable place to contribute and be in, within the regulations and consensus. --Jondel 14:59, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

  2. Support. Jondel has a history of good edits and knowledge of Wikipedia procedures. He's also shown a courteous manner with other users (yes, I am sufficiently confident in this user to vote before reading his answers). --Deathphoenix 03:01, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

  6. Support. I'm a little worried about the lack of edit summaries, and am also concerned that their may be a tendency to overuse speedy deletion (Alan M. Hantman was tagged, for example), but the good far outways the bad. Thus I support. --Scimitar parley 15:33, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
Sorry for the speedy tag I placed. I mistakenly thought somebody wanted to advertise his resume. Resumes are uploaded here at wikipedia sometimes.--Jondel 15:48, 30 July 2005 (UTC)
I know, I saw your comment on the VfD. Admitting and apologizing for that relatively minor mistake is just one of the reasons I think you will be a good admin. --Scimitar parley 15:54, 30 July 2005 (UTC)

  16. Support. I'd like him to start using edit summaries, but other than that I like him quite well. Plus, he's edited a bunch of articles about the Philippines, and it's nice on such a big site with so many topics to have editors who are willing to lend a lot of knowledge in specific areas. --Idont Havaname 18:07, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

  25. Support. Pretty good guy, reverts vandalism, but also believes in fun. (Jondel plays in the sandbox regularly with DrZoidberg and Fonzie Fan, but doesn't harm the sandbox) — Stevey7788 (talk) 21:29, 1 August 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate

A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)

I plan to monitor for vandalism and non-notable new pages. I may assist on translation related administrator tasks. I am definitely going to be on the lookout and ban well known rogue anonymous ip addresses who are well known to vandalize.

I participate in Vfds once in a while and plan to take a more active role. I will push for neutrality in articles. I will work on requested moves. I have been translating many articles to Spanish but did not register as a translator because I have my agenda but will assist at least as an administrator.

2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?

-Henry the Black - verfy few people know about him but they should. I just want to make sure that Philippine related articles are up to date and accurate.

-Marenostrum made it to the 'Did you know column of the main page and was a candidate on the 'In the news section.

Also 90 nanometer, Michael Kearney(I'm a prodigy fan),Osedax, Languages of the Philippines,MareNostrum, Abacus system, etc.

I made major contributions to Wimax.

3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?

I don't know if this is a conflict. I've sympathized with Dr.Zoidberg and campaigned for unblocking him. I will abide by the decision of the majority and respect it. I tend to assume good faith to a bit of an extreme. I do want to give him time to grow up.

I have been accused of copyright violations with regards to Languages of the Philippines and Edgar Cayce on Karma but it was the other way around. I have been level headed about this and faithfully assumed good faith towards the accuser.
