[edit] Ian13

Final (6/10/1) ended 18:37, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Ian13 (talk contribs) – Ian13 seems to be a good Wikipedian and vandal fighter - despite a membership of only around 2 and a half month. He is a member of various Wikiprojects, and is very eager to lend a hand. In my view, he'd make a good admin. ComputerJoe 21:43, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:
I accept, albeit unsure of how the community will respond. Ian13ID:540053 22:18, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
I WITHDRAW my acceptance, and will aim to boardern my scope. I, however, do not understand the relevence of how many userboxes I have. Ian13ID:540053 18:06, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Support

  1. Support. I would usually like to see a little more experience, but I have interacted with the nominee enough to trust him with admin tools. --TantalumTelluride 23:20, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

  6. Support The oppose votes are incredibly weak. NBD, right? —BorgHunter (talk) 13:18, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. Oppose Good user but need more experience especially with articles, More userspace edits than article edits won't help much. In one month I will support --Jaranda wat's sup 00:06, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  2. Oppose I agree with Jaranda. This user seems to be off to a very good start, but needs more experience before adminship in my opinion. Johntex\talk 00:21, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  3. Oppose, weakly with a suggestion that the candidate withdraw, and come back in a month. Good work with edit summaries, though. NSLE (T+C) 00:46, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  4. Oppose freestylefrappe 02:11, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  5. Oppose Please come back in 2 months --rogerd 05:10, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  6. Oppose -- too many userboxes and in Category:Users who support userboxes --Pjacobi 11:59, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
What an absolutely silly reason to oppose. —BorgHunter (talk) 13:18, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  7. Oppose, a little too little time on Wikipedia and far too many userboxes. Good work with edit summaries though. Please take heart of this criticism and reapply in a month or two. — JIP | Talk 12:25, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  8. Oppose, too many userboxes. Alphax τεχ 13:57, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  9. Oppose, all of the project and template space edits seem to be concentrated on userboxes with very few article edits. I've nothing against userboxes, but he should really broaden his scope. - Bobet 15:27, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
  10. Oppose: nothing personal, but some important things about Wikipedia are learned only through experience. Please keep contributing, and consider trying again in a few months. Jonathunder 16:56, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Neutral

  1. Neutral slight leaning towards oppose, I've no doubt this user will be capable as an admin, just needs a little more experience (month or two). --pgk(talk) 07:40, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
A. Assisting in any backlogs which occur would be a priority, as well as lending a hand wherever needed. I would aim to watch Special:Newpages, and assist in speedying obvious candidates wherever possible, as well as helping users in AIV. I will continue RC Patrol, but would be able to take action myself and help aid quick recovery.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I am pleased with WikiProject Userboxes: since I founded it several weeks ago, it has gained 75 members, and it is slowly aiding in organising the huge expanse of userboxes. I am also pleased with some of my works to MOO, where I have tried to expand the article and make it more specific. My work on Prisons in the United States has hopefully made it confirm a little more with NPOV ([1]). I also value my efforts in RC Patrol.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A. I feel I have learnt it is important to keep level-headed and AGF, because it is those values that allow Wikipedia to expand. I would aim to discuss and accept a compromise. If I feel I am becoming stressed with a user or situation, I would isolate myself from that, if I failed I would take a WikiBreak until I calm down. If someone became angered over my actions, I would cease using my powers on that situation until it was resolved.
