[edit] Gkhan
final (2/7/3) ending 02:21, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)
I've been frequenting wikipedia for about a year (it took me awhile to get a user-name) and I am very familiar with all wikipedia policies (I read old ArbCom-cases when I'm bored :P). What I do here at wikipedia is almost exclusivly janitorial work, RC patrol mostly. I also stub-sort, image-tag, and occasionally even welcome new users and help them out. Admin-powers would hugely appriciated when doing RC Patrol, every time I do it there is a page I want to delete, pages needed to be rollbacked, and occasionaly a user that needs to be blocked. I don't have an impressive edit count at all, but I have participated in many discussions and I can guarantee that I know what is expected of me. This should be sorted under the "No big deal"-category.
Support
- Support, I see only good edits, no reason to oppose. --Bjarki 00:48, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Support; edit count is only a guideline by which I oppose (i.e. 10 edits is out of the question, as is 100, but 600 is adequate). ugen64 06:36, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Oppose
- Only 740 edits, with a considerable amount towards Wikipedia:Wikifun. More than half of his edits have been in the last month, and 15% of his edits have been in the last 3 days. Little interaction on his talk page. I do like what I see, but I'd like to see more. CryptoDerk 03:03, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Nice guy, but needs more article experience. --Merovingian (t) (c) 03:39, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Needs to get more involved with the project as a whole, his edits to date make it very difficult to judge whether he merits adminship. Particularly lacking is interaction with other users. He has made a good start though. Rje 12:55, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Not yet. Smoddy (Rabbit and pork) 19:20, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Support after 1200 edits. --Lst27 (talk) 22:16, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Does not meet my admin criterion, jguk 07:23, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. try again in six months. it is still too early. Kingturtle 17:42, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Neutral
- An edit count of (as of this writing) 746, with a considerable amount towards Wikipedia:Wikifun, is not a good sample to judge how Gkhan effectively interacts with the community as a whole. Zzyzx11 | Talk 03:14, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- While the edit count isn't impressive, I really like Gkhan's help with vandals. Please keep with your work. Pavel Vozenilek 18:11, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Nice work so far, but not enough edits in talk and important janitorial wikipedia namespace pages. Mgm|(talk) 21:51, Apr 21, 2005 (UTC)
- I'll echo the sentiments of the others in the Neutral section. Andre (talk) 20:02, Apr 25, 2005 (UTC)
Comments
- Gkhan currently has 746 total edits: 253/78 to articles/talk, 186/8 to Wikipedia/talk, 95/72 to User/talk, 32 to Image, and 21/1 to Template/talk. —Korath (Talk) 02:53, Apr 20, 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. RC patrol, deleting pages and fighting vandals mostly. However I do alot of janitorial stuff, so I'd be happy to help out with VfD or any other requested task. I feel I also would be a good moderator and conflict-solver. Also, many times I think that ITN and DYK updates way too slowly, I'd love to be able to contribute there aswell.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. As I've said, I'm mostly a janitor, when I do contribute it's usially on some small obscure topic. I guess I'm proudest of Dynamic Programming#Checkerboard and Derivation of the cartesian formula for an ellipse
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
- A. The few conflicts I have been in have been very small indeed, I rarely do any controverisal editing, and the discussions I have had never escalated. I am a strong believer in the No Personal Attacks-policy, almost to extreme lengths, and I always keep my head cool in the "heat of battle".
