Formerly known as User:B Touch, Furious Freddy has been very active on a number of music articles, getting several, like Sly & the Family Stone, The Temptations and The Supremes to Featured status. He's mostly stayed out of really heated disputes, but seems to have acted pretty rationally and calmly at talk:Batman, for example (probably some other places that I can't think of right now). His talk archive dates back to September, so he's been active at least nine months. Tuf-Kat 23:07, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I accept the nomination (I could have sworn I did all of this last night! Maybe the info didn't save properly to the page? Oh, well...I'll do it all again...)
Um, I apoligize but I'm going to have to reverse-track and decline the nomination instead. I'm goping to actually be leaving the Wikipedia to get back to working on my career projects. Thanks for the support, but I'm way behind on my projects and I have to get back to them. --FuriousFreddy 03:25, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Oppose

  1. Looking through contribs, obviously good user, but does not appear would benefit from admin powers at all, plus doesn't leave edit summaries frequently. Bluemoose 09:22, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Can I be the first one to say I don't understand the whole hubbub regarding edit summaries? Last year that didn't even matter. Why is it such a big deal now? Mike H 04:13, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
Didn't it? Anyway, as far as I understand it the increased number of changes make it harder for RC patrol - edit summaries from users can generally be trusted. On the other hand, maybe they're just in vogue! r3m0t talk 11:07, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
It's always been important, I just don't think there used to be many people that didn't use them. I personally find not using edit summaries very unhelpful, and have always said that in admin noms that needed it. - Taxman Talk 11:55, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
It's hardly something that's always been important, because people haven't used this mantra en masse before a few months ago. Mike H 23:48, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)
What is so hard about leaving a little edit summary? Phoenix2 01:50, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. One area of sysop tasks I have a strong interest in is combating vandalism. By helping spot and block constant vandals, helping delete nonsense articles, I believe I would be of assistance in making sure Wikipedia is kept as accurate and reliable as possible. I also have an interest in helping stop disputes and edit wars, and feel I would be of assistance in that area as well.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. The articles I am most proud of are the Our Gang and The Temptations articles. Both provide just enough information—not too little, and not too much—on the subject, allowing an interested reader a good introduction to the subject. As far as contributions on general, I am proud that I have been able to expand information relating to two somewhat under-covered areas on Wikipedia: R&B/soul music and classical animation, both of which happen to be my areas of expertise.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A.There have been a few minor issues I’ve encountered (a tendency by some users not to allow African American individuals to be identified as African American and issues with anons and new users wanting articles to be their way instead of following the style guides. Currently, there’s a problem with the Mariah Carey article and its related articles (see the talk page), where a few of the users have been violating both NPOV and factual accuracy. I’ve been talking to a few of the users and participating in discussions on elated talk pages, but there doesn’t seem to be any progress. So, the next logical step is a request for comment. I try my best not to pick on (or at) people or start pointless disputes; any matter where people can’t agree should, I believe, be resolved peacefully and fairly.
