[edit] Dmn

final (12/1/4) ending 03:02 26 November 2004 (GMT) I've been editing regularly for over a year now and have a couple of thousand edits. I'd thought I'd nominate myself rather than get someone to nominate me. If I'm not good enough, it would be interesting to find out how I can improve. Support

1. Good user. Lst27 (talk) 03:27, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
2. Well, all right, if Wik called you a moron and a vandal, you'd probably be a good admin. Everyking 06:44, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
3. -- Grunt   ҈  20:04, 2004 Nov 19 (UTC)
4. All of us who have been attacked by Wik should stick together. RickK 07:51, Nov 20, 2004 (UTC)
5. Mon Dieu! If both Sam Spade and Gzornenplatz opposes you, you can't be all wrong! /Tuomas 15:43, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)
6. I think it's fairly safe to say that Wik's view can be discarded in considering who would make a good admin. Shane King 03:18, Nov 22, 2004 (UTC)
7. Seems like a good guy. And the fact that he said "Enjoyed working on Kylie Minogue" below - I almost wet my pants laughing. --Whosyourjudas (talk) 05:08, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
8. Cribcage 05:09, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)
9. support, and despite trying my best to find it alarming and sinister, I am completely untroubled by him leaving a silly comment (wagga wagga) on someone's talk page back in April. Wolfman 19:11, 23 Nov 2004 (UTC)
10. having said "wagga wagga" back in April is no reason for me to object. If the 'repeatedly' part of the 'inanities' allegations is demonstrated, I may change to neutral (or even object). I also like the fact that he is not aggressively defending himself here, letting people make up their own minds. dab 16:42, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Good point. Sam Spade Arb Com election 17:24, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)
11. Yes. Just one "mistake" of saying "Wagga Wagga" does not affect my support. Squash (Talk) 23:16, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC)
12. Support. Sjc 19:15, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Oppose

1. Wik doesn't make things up. Dmn repeatedly posted inanities like this on Wik's talk page. The "nasty things" Wik said, which Dmn complains about below, were apparently after Dmn started behaving like this. No sysop material. Gzornenplatz 17:32, Nov 19, 2004 (UTC)
Oppose due to having intentionally annoyed wik. Sam Spade Arb Com election 22:15, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Neutral

1. Neutrality (hopefully!) 04:06, Nov 21, 2004 (UTC)
2. Adding "wagga wagga" to Wik's talk page does not seem the most damnable action I can think of. Neutral b/c I don't know anything about this user except that he (like me) was on Wik's hitlist. VeryVerily 13:44, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
3. I've been thinking just about the same thing as VV: "wagga wagga" is hardly major vandalism, and, well, if everyone who got into a high blood pressure situation wrote "wagga wagga," we'd have fewer ArbCom decisions. It seems like a great deal less than what most folks do. I have wanted to vote for support, but I'm pretty neutral. Geogre 15:27, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
4. I'll change to a neutral stance due to lack of info. Sam Spade Arb Com election 17:24, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Comments

• Dmn, why do you have two accounts? I know the second one is not hiding your identity, but the collaborative account you have seems... well... not really very encouraging. Just a question and an opportunity for you to expand. Geogre 17:18, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
• I use User:David 5000 vs. Dmn only when we are in the same room contributing from the same computer. Dmn / Դմն 17:25, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
• We as in who? You share your account? You can make edits on multiple pages at once, also. -- user:zanimum
• I don't see any problem with someone sharing accounts, and seems to me that a collaborative account is useful for attribution. Several dozen edits from my account were made by school-aged children, although some of the active ones will be starting their own accounts. As for making edits on multple pages at once, I have found my edits (apparently at least) throttled, even when editing alone.Pedant
• I have no objection to multiple accounts. There are valid and compelling reasons -- and absent evidence of any malice, we should assume good intent. Cribcage 03:22, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
A. I would mainly keep doing what I'm already doing. I would also be more inclined to patrol the recent changes.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
A. I enjoyed working on Kylie Minogue and Churchill College, Cambridge (compare how they were last year). Anyone who's studied quantum mechanics would probably appreciate Schr-harmonic.jpg
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
A. Wik once said some nasty things about me, but apart from that I enjoy working with the vast majority of users. On the whole I avoid edit conflicts and advocate discussion.
