[edit] D-Day
Final (1/7/0) ended 21:37, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
D-Day (talk • contribs) – In 4 sentences: D-Day is a good user who makes good contributions. He has been around almost a year. He is polite, and is pleasant to work with. I think it is time to give him the mop. GangstaEB EA 20:10, 17 June 2006 (UTC) It's only been a couple hours, but I'm calling this off per WP:SNOW. --D-Day I'm all ears 21:37, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I humbly accept. Thank you! --D-Day I'm all ears 20:19, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

- Absolutely not. This user has consistently tried to pervert Wikipedia's primary mission from being an encyclopedia to being a social networking site. We cannot reward such behavior. Also, he has consistently and flagrantly ignored Jimbo's comments and requests regarding polemical and divisive userboxes. --Cyde↔Weys 21:01, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- I have seen this user get into a lot of scrapes regarding userboxes. Whoever is right or wrong, that's no excuse to be incivil to the other side. I have also not seen any convincing reason to give adminship either. Johnleemk | Talk 21:01, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose - per Johnleemk -- Tawker 21:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose per above - in my experience, tends to be inflammatory rather than "polite" or "pleasant". FreplySpang 21:12, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Adminship is not for message spreading. --Rory096 21:16, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose. Meets a decent amount of my criteria, but the social networking / ignoring comments about userboxes thing does get to me. SushiGeek 21:20, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- Oppose From a glance at their image contribs, user has uploaded more than fifty images from random websites, including news agency sites, and tagged them as {{Promotional}}, never establishing that the images were a work-for-hire or from a press kit, giving no authorship or licensing information. Either fundamentally disagrees with Wikipedia being free and reusable, or has no understanding of Wikipedia:Image use policy. Jkelly 21:35, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I plan on working in the following: 1) Blocking spammers/vandals. 2) Updating the main page. 3) Speedy and votes for deletion 4) Mediation, possibly working my way up to the Arbitration committee.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: Anyone who knows me probably has seen my extensive edits on Wikipedia:WikiProject NASCAR. My edits there are too numerous to mention, but I've recently started a poll among our members to define notablity so as to avoid conflicts. You can see it here.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Unfortunately, no one is perfect. I've had a few clashes in the past regarding userbox debates, and probably have shot my mouth off once or twice. Fortunately, I have learned from those experiences, and feel as if I've matured as a user. I'm a part of Esperanza, and I feel that has helped me master civility, and I plan to help spread that message to other users as an admin.
