[edit] Chris is me
Final (0/8/1); Ended 05:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Chris is me (talk • contribs) - After last RFA crashed and burnt over my incessant incivility, I attempted to keep a level head since then and have mostly succeeded, excluding a minor issue on MySpace that was mostly a misunderstanding. Regardless, I've since revised MySpace again and have brought The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail and Conserve School oh-so-close to B-class. I've also made a few (bad) Village Pump proposals, closed AFDs, etc.
I think I'm a much better candidate now than before, despite my low edit count (I've been here for two years. With my work against copyvios increasing (once I get Perl at school), now I actually have a real need for that mop; it'd save valuable minutes in removing copyvios! Here goes... -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 02:15, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here: I accept!!! -- Chris is me (u/c/t) 02:17, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Statement: I am open to review of my adminship after any incident or event by renominating me on RFA.
I am not perfect, nor will I ever be. As anyone can see, my first 1000 edits were plagued with stupidity, incivility, and failure. I am still pretty stupid, but I've learned a lot.
I've known of too many people who try and present all their good in their RFA but not their bad. I, in order to keep space down, merely link to my previous RFA, which lists most of my bad.
Also, please don't reject me for a small edit count. I am devoted to Wikipedia and have been a user for nearly 2 years.
- Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog and Category:Administrative backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A: I would help with WP:CP during my free hours (2-3 a day). I also plan on reviewing Special:Newpages to check for articles to add to... or delete. I do NewPage editing now, but the edits don't get tracked, so you can't tell. I'd also try and be on IRC as much as possible to help any urgent requests. Other miscellany I plan to do with my mop include WP:AIAV when the Wikicon (the real name is blocked on my network, so refrain from using it) goes up, closing WP:MFD and WP:AFD, and possibly a little help at WP:DRV Otherwise, miscellaneous protection, unrotection, and wherever help is needed!
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A: It's hard to be proud of contributing to an article on something so loathsome, but my copyedits to MySpace (see contribs) are pretty good, especially if you go back to my first edits to the article. I saved the Belkin and HughesNet articles from corporate spam and propaganda, wrote articles on Conserve School and The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail that I need to finish, and all those general little bugfixes in articles. I'm proud to be a Wikipedian.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A: Have I? I'm not going to pretend that I'm spotless, or a model Wikipedian. I did some pretty stupid things which cost me adminship last time, that I've tried my best never to do again. See my last RFA for the ones I was very uncivil in (I've changed! I hope). Recently, Death Note episode summaries had copyvios in them, so I removed them. Since I forgot the essential link to the summary, a user added them back in, thinking I did it maliciously. I then, after commenting on his talk page, reverted 14 articles (admin would have helped there), and then the user told me I was being reckless with my copyvio removals, even after seeing proof. Ah well, just another day. There have been a few other minor ones involving MySpace that I hope I handled well.

Oppose
- Ouch. This is gonna hurt, but why rush a nomination so soon after your last one? It just makes you look power-wanting and seem that you treat adminship as a trophy. For that, I must oppose. – Chacor 02:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Eh, well... I really want the tools, but I can see your point. I am a strong believer in the idea that Wikipedia is rankless, that anonymous editors and admins should be at the same level as much as possible. I just found myself editing at times, thinking how much easier things would be as an admin (no AIAV, no CSD tagging, closing debates would be fun). I waited as log as I ocould, but I'm impatient. -- Chris is me (u/rfa/t) 02:29, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Charcor. You said yourself your impatient. --TeckWizTalk Contribs@ 02:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Weak Oppose I voted support last time (I was Seadog) but I haven't seen a whole lot of improvement since then, sorry :/. I just feel that you need more experiance, come back in 4 months. ~ Arjun 02:43, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per your self-impaling response to Chacor. In case you didn't know, one of the most important thresholds for attaining adminship is the necessity of admin tools, not the desire for admin tools. No significant need for admin tools has thus far been expressed. I appreciate your candor towards your own aptitude (or lack of, from what I can gather from your comments), but humor isn't really going to persuade me much, though I am in no means advocating anyone to be an abject bore. --210physicq (c) 02:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose Sorry, but I don't think the last one was just because of incivility. Alex43223 Talk | Contribs | E-mail | C 03:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose, too early since last attempt. Insanephantom(my Editor Review) 03:39, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per Psyicq210. Michael 04:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose per review of his contributions and the concerns raised above. I think more time is necessary in order to show an ability to be civil for an extended period of time. No need for the tools is exhibited, and I have concerns that the tools would not be used wisely based on the previously-expressed concerns. I suggest waiting several months. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 04:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Neutral
- Neutral-leaning-support. I really like the way the candidate thinks (WikiSocial userbox solution, "AFD is evil", Ability to be described). We need more wikipedians (especially Admins) who think think like he does. He has opinions on things and can clearly express them. He also has a fairly proportionate amount of edits, but the numbers aren't too high. Come back after a few more months of solid work and maybe if it shows that you've edited enough, I'll vote support! └Jared┘┌talk┐ 02:34, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
