[edit] Appleboy
Vote here (4/8/0) ending 04:03 October 21 2005 (UTC)
Appleboy (talk • contribs) – Appleboy helped me tremendously with setting up my audiofeeds so that I could virtually attend Wikimania from Niagara Falls, NY USA during the conference in Frankfurt. He is skilled in using both the Mac and Windows platforms for audio feeds, and I vastly appreciated his assistance and support. ChrisBradley 04:03, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

- Great job removing vandalism. Edit counts should not matter. This user has shown that they can do a good job and also in the wikipedia-en-vandalism chat room. --☺Adam1213☺|talk 04:59, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Appleboy is a wonderful user and will be a great admin. --Chiacomo (talk) 05:03, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Oppose
- I'm no fan of editcountitis, and Appleboy is a good user, but only 40 edits, and literally only 7 article edits...that's not near experienced enough. Certainly with a bit more activity I'd reconsider, but not at this stage.Ral315 WS 04:44, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. May I ask? but are you insane? 40 edits? --Maru (talk) 04:51, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose 40 edits in 11 months. Come back when you have had some experience here. --Rogerd 05:19, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose for above reasons. --Merovingian (t) (c) (e) 05:21, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. I do not normally oppose for editcountitis reasons, but this is an exceptional case. Only 40 edits, of which the vast majority are to his own userspace? That is clearly too few. — JIP | Talk 05:24, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. I'd like to mention that a few days ago, on the IRC channel #wikipedia, AppleBoy kicked Gmaxwell, a regular user, because he thought he was a "spammer". Someone who would take such rash action against another user really isn't ready to have blocking powers on Wikipedia, edit count or no edit count. sɪzlæk [ +t, +c, +m, +e ] 05:51, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. User has good participation on IRC, but not enough experience in the wiki itself. Ëvilphoenix Burn! 06:00, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but if this is a joke nomination I am not in on the joke. --Tony SidawayTalk 06:20, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Comments
- Yes, people have mentioned that, but I also have watched many battles rise and fall on wikipedia. I'm also often in the channels when vandalism occurs and people are asking for bans to happen while the people keep going on vandalising pages because no admin is on to stop them, that's where I would like to help. I'm not here to make some sort of profound difference in helping people make proper NPOV articles, I'm here to take care of the nitty gritty work that nobody else likes to worry about. --AppleBoy Talk 04:54, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
- A. I hang out in #wikipedia-en-vandalism on freenode, and keep a watch on vandalism. I have done a few, but usually I have a tendency to be talking with other admins at the time and they beat me to it with their handy revert button. I would also like to help delete the anonymous page creations that aren't even long enough to be a redirect (AKA, one word such as poop, which shows up a lot suprisingly, or other more profane words).
I have also been told that I should be an admin if I'm going to be an operator in the irc channels, which I'm currently an operator in #wikipedia and #wikipedia-en-vandalism. Former being by FennecFoxen, latter I don't knowI've now been told otherwise

- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. Under my talk page I'm working on a psychology book since I am probably going to minor in psychology. I was going to do it on wikibooks but that place is a bit of a mess at the moment. Also, not quite articles, but I am proud to be a bit of a go between with freematrix radio who hosts the live audio feeds at wikimania and also helping nGerda and his ongoing attempts at the Wikinews Network. On top of this, I also am subscribed to all mailing lists I can related to wikimedia, that are in english, and respond when I feel is appropriate, and when I have time.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I have yet to come into any editing problems on wikipedia, although I don't have an enormous ammount of edits on wikipedia itself. I have delt with plenty of stress on both irc and on other places though, and I have very good methods of dealing with it, usually consisting of having a civil chat with the other parties involved before doing rash things. I would also recommend to anybody that is becoming an admin to go through a humanities class that goes on about non-violence peace protests. Although not directly related, many of the concepts I have learned from my class have helped me tremendously in the way I deal with day to day conflicts.
