[edit] Activision45
Final (1/10/2) ended 16:51 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Activision45 (talk • contribs) – (Hi, my name is Activison45 and I would like to become an admin. Although this account is fairly new. I have been using wikipedia for 2 years now. I can honestly say that I never vandalised. (except for my Clueless Newbie days. Soon after i started, i made it my goal to clean up wikipedia from vandalzers. After 2 years of cleaning up from vandals. I decided I would make a username so that i could contribute to Wikipedia and also run for an admin position. I do understand that many of you wouldnt be comfortable with someone with such a new account as an admin, but, I have been using wikipedia for 2 years like i said earlier and I am very comfortable with the editing of wikipedia. I believe that I am fit for being an admin)
- Candidate, please indicate acceptance of the nomination here:I am self nominated. I Do accept this nomination
Support
- Support Although new account, he has done good job cleaning up. No Vandalisim. Had one copyright issue but cleaned it up after complaint about it. good job! --Atari965 07:04, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Atari965
- Comment Atari965 is a new account (sockpuppet?) whose only contribution is this RfA --rogerd 07:11, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Comment I also noticed that. I would rather have experienced users vote then someone who has never contributed, that way, I can find out what I should do better.
Oppose
- Oppose Should have created a User account earlier. Give it a few months. I also dislike the incorrect capitalisation of 'i'. Dmn 03:23, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose Way too new, less than 125 edits and only a few days old his account. Try again in 3 months sorry. --Jaranda wat's sup 04:31, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose Looking at your edits just from this evening I have considerable difficulty believing you've been around for two years as an editor. Come back in a few months. -- Francs2000 04:33, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose
Please review unofficial standards and re-apply in 2-3 months. --rogerd 04:49, 11 December 2005 (UTC)User is clearly not even close to being ready for adminship --rogerd 07:08, 11 December 2005 (UTC) - Oppose Did you only create an account to get up for RfA? xaosflux T/C 04:56, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose Writes copyvios and tries to hide them up. Jobe6 Image:Peru flag large.png 05:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose per above. Korg (talk) 06:37, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose Account is not "fairly new", but utterly new. Edits such as [1] and [2] are written in the first person, contain vast amounts of misspelling and grammical errors, do not follow Wikipedia style, do not use sections, and are written in the perspective of game guides as opposed to encyclopedic content. Therefore, user's claim of 2 years of editing experience is highly doubtful, and user cannot be trusted currently with admin responsibilities. Znode 07:02, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose and suggest delisting. Three days on Wikipedia is clearly not enough experience for adminship. — JIP | Talk 10:38, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose per Znode's research. Delisting would probably be a good idea. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 15:19, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Neutral
- Neutral This user does not seem to understand some parts of wikipedia policy very well. I don't think they are ready to be an administrator. That said, I also believe the user is acting in good faith, and I don't think it is necessary to pile on and be negative in this space. It seems clear to me that Activision45 just doesn't understand some things about how wikipedia works. For this, he/she can be pardoned.--Alhutch 07:18, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- Neutral Rather than pile on another oppose this user clearly isn't ready. The effort it took to list this RFA seems to show a lack of understanding of how wikipedia works, the article history for Any Way You Want It indicates initial authorship by someone else wih the user adding one sentence. The answer to question (1) again reveals little understanding of wikipedia policy. Little use of edit summaries. I would suggest the user withdraw the nomination and try again when they've gathered more experience. --pgk(talk) 09:09, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Comments
Are you able to pinpoint under which IP(s) you were editing before you signed up for a username? -- Francs2000 02:59, 11 December 2005 (UTC)- The article Jody Thompson, to which Activision45 is the sole contributor, appears to be a copyright violation from this URL.--Alhutch 03:11, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- You didnt fix it. You just switched a few words around. Jobe6 Image:Peru flag large.png 05:54, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
- What's the IP address used before? Maltesedog 07:52, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A. I would like to help with deleting of the many IP addresses that vandalize wikipedia. I believe that rounding up the sockpuppet's in wikipedia and deleting them is important. I would also like to help out with protection of pages that are getting vandalized alot. One page that i noticed that got vandalized alot was the muslim page. I would like to protect that page if the author thinks it would be a good idea.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. I am pleased with several of the articles that i have written. One of them is Jody Thompson. This article is about a criminal who was in Las Vegas for robbing a string of stores. I was pleased with this one because of how good it turned out. I also like a small music stub that i wrote called Any Way You Want It. I was pleased because of the support i got from other wikipedians.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I have never experienced a revert war. I have had unwanted edits that i had to deal with. I simply went back to the copy i wanted and updated it. I never carried out revenge. It only takes 10 seconds to fix it so it wasnt that much of a big deal.
