Category:Requests for unblock

CAT:UNBLOCK

This category is intended to allow Administrators to easily locate users who have requested that a block placed on them be lifted, whether a legitimate registered user blocked as collateral damage from an IP block against an anonymous user, or a claimed unjust block.

The request is made by the user placing an {{unblock}} template on their User talk page (which they can still edit).

If you decide to unblock a user, please be sure to remove the {{unblock}} tag. If there is no legitimate reason to remove the block, replace the {{unblock}} template with an {{unblock reviewed}} template.

If a request to unblock has been granted, please use {{request accepted}}.

  • Having a thought -- should we merge {{unblock}} and {{unblock reviewed}}? It seems that with a few parser functions, it could be done, and it would cut down on confusion (I know I've forgotten to switch the two templates, even when providing a decline reason, and I've seen others make the same mistake). Thoughts? Luna Santin 03:46, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
  • If you do decide to merge the templates, I've created a template that might fit the bill: User:Timrem/Unblock. It should function exactly like the separate templates do: with no parameters it returns a "please give a reason" message, with one parameter it requests an unblock and adds the proper category, and with two parameters it acts just like {{unblock reviewed}}. Hope this helps. timrem 19:07, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
