On June 12, 2006 Republic Bancorp announced that it would acquire 5 year old GulfStream Community Bank in Florida. GulfStream accepted 18.1 million in cash. GulfStream currently has $66 million in assets. The acquisition was completed on October 3, 2006. Republic is expected to complete the accounts, naming, and internet conversion by December 1, 2006 using the brand Republic Bank.[citation needed]
