"Reptiles in the Rose Garden" is the second episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
[edit] Synopsis
Bowser is very depressed today, it being Wendy's 16th birthday. She is not happy with the presents she received, as she wants more. She then screams, "I want America for my birthday!", which Bowser is reluctant to grant since "America's in the real world". But it's either that or put up with her whining even more, so he agrees to do it.
Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Peach catch sight of Bowser's Doomship headed for the real world, and the Koopas capture them and imprison them in his castle. The Koopas find the White House and warp it to his castle (George Bush doesn't notice because he's on the telephone). Wendy calls a press conference to recite her new "laws".
At Bowser's Castle, Peach provokes the Hammer Brother guards to a fight, using the crossfire to cut their chains off. Bowser then warps the White House down to the bottom of the Mushroom Sea. Mario puts on a Frog Suit and dives in. After arriving and being mistaken by Barbara Bush for a member of the Secret Service, he goes to the basement, attaching pipes, putting them out the windows, and turning the wheel. This propels the White House to the surface of the water.
Mario and Luigi then disguise themselves as Hammer Brothers in order to climb aboard the Doomship (which has returned to prepare for invasions of London, Paris, and Brooklyn), but their disguises fool no one. Fleeing from the Sledge Hammer Brothers, Mario then looks for the engine room to take control of the Doomship. He finds the warp gun and accidentally warps the White House on top of the Washington Monument. He then puts it back where it belongs and warps Wendy back to Bowser's castle. When she blames her dad for letting the Mario Bros. do anything, he finally gets fed up with her and commands her to do her chores.
[edit] Trivia/Goofs
- This marks the only time in the cartoons where Toad appears, but doesn't have any lines. He does yell along with everyone else however, and his "squeaking" sounds are still present.
- At the beginning of this episode, Bowser sounds a lot different than he usually does in the cartoons.
- After Mario and the rest cut off their chains, there are two Chain Chomps still connected to their blocks, along with a lone Hammer Brother doing nothing.
- Wendy's new "laws" were:
- Every kid in America must give her their toys.
- Any handsome boy that does not take her on a date will be turned into a rock.
- All the gold in Fort Knox will be melted to make her an infinite supply of charm bracelets.
- The White House seems to land right on top of Wendy, but in the very next shot, she's a good distance away from it.
- This is the first time that Earth is mentioned as "the real world" in the Super Mario Bros. cartoons. Apparently, the characters are aware that they don't actually exist.
- Bowser's plan to invade Brooklyn doesn't make sense, because Wendy has already taken over America and therefore already has control of Brooklyn.
- When Bowser tells the Sledge Bros. to warp the White House to the Mushroom Kingdom, their beaks turn green!
