[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Confederatedrailroad.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Confederatedrailroad.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 03:49, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Aboutwb001008.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Aboutwb001008.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Slow down

Slow down with the screenshots. We really don't need that many. Wikipedia's not a screenshot repository. Andre (talk) 23:26, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

In particular, Super Mario 64 was nominated to have its featured article status removed, and one major point of contention was an excessive amount of fair use screenshots in the article. I'm removing the screenshots from the article for this reason, it's nothing personal. Pagrashtak 01:38, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Perrinkaplan.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Perrinkaplan.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] SVG vs PNG

Hi, you might want to check out the SVG talk. I have added this image Image:Orc - Raster vs Vector comparison.png and better explained (I hope) the difference between SVG (a vector format) and PNG (a raster format). Oh and the Scalable Vector Graphics and Vector graphics articles also explain this.

Also, I should warn you that I believe there is a copyright problem with your image. AFAIK, you cannot legally release your image into the public domain. You created it from Orc.svg which is GFDL licensed. Unless you can obtain the authors permission, you would have to release it under the GFDL license. You can of course release your specific work/contribution into the public domain. Look at my image for an example which I think is probably the best way to do it. The image is/must be licensed under the GFDL. But you can explain that you've released all your work into the public domain and therefore if someone else is able to convince the original author of Orc.svg, they don't need to ask you, you're image could automatically be released in to the public domain.Ignore me. I checked out the wikipedia version of the image, assuming it would be released under the same license. However the wikicommons version is released into the public domain.

[edit] Re: Push (artist)

I'm so far seeing a description of a pseudonym for someone I've never heard of, has no article for the person whose pseudonym it is, no notability stuff - e.g. Song "blah" was chosen as one of the top progressive dance tracks by listeners of Important Radio Station, or Artist was signed by notable record company, or there have been x 10's of thousands of copies of track sold (giving references for any of the above of course). That he's released all those tracks is interesting, but not actually notable unless any individual track is notable. If this "Universal Nation" song is important, I'd like to see a bit more than just the discogs and your listing of it. -- Palfrey 23:23, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:CommodoreMaxPrototype1984.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CommodoreMaxPrototype1984.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 13:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:PS3corruptedaac.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:PS3corruptedaac.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Wiimotherboard.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Wiimotherboard.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 04:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stop adding images without licenses

Please read and pay attention to all these messages on your talk page, and please read Wikipedia:Image use policy / WP:IT. If you continue posting copyright violating images, you will be blocked to prevent you uploading any more of them. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 04:18, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your edit on Talk:Wii

Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors; personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks may lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. TJ Spyke 04:36, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Don't make my flame at you! You and I both know that a 729 MHz RISC is SHIT in 2006. I was being nice and said it was slightly outdated which was understating the truth so this damn issue of yours won't come up and it still did. Why? Because Nintendo fanboys think protecting a fucking 729 MHz CPU as somehow a state-of-the-art one is crazy, and you have way too much time on your hands otherwise you wouldn't bullshit me. Nintendo hardware is cheap so Nintendo can stay in business and reasons it has a following have to do with the fact Nintendo went to Sourceforge and ported damn ROMS into the Wii. Renegadeviking

[edit] Last warning: No more personal attacks and no more copyright violations

Going through your talk page and contribs histories, I see an unbelievable number of personal attacks. Additionally, I see that your talk page is almost nothing but warnings about your uploading copyright violations. You have taken both of these activities too far. Stop now, or you will be blocked for disruption. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people, and respect copyrights. --Chris Griswold () 07:20, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Lg_multi_blu.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lg_multi_blu.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Improper copyright tags don't work either

Image:Wiimotherboard.jpg doesn't fit the tag you gave it. It is obviously not a promotional image; it's a screencap from someone's Youtube video. It also fails various other WP:FUC rules. Please read WP:FU/WP:FUC and the image copyright tags themselves before applying tags or uploading photos. -- Consumed Crustacean (talk) 09:11, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Montego DDL Control Panel

I've nominated Montego DDL Control Panel, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Montego DDL Control Panel satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Montego DDL Control Panel and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Montego DDL Control Panel during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. --Vossanova o< 18:17, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I see that, on March 3rd, you removed the Afd tag from this article. This was an inappropriate action. The banner must be left intact until a moderator at WP:AFD closes the discussion after five days. Please refrain from removing Afd tags from the articles in the future. --Vossanova o< 20:24, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
