From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Renske Vellinga (born October 26, 1974 – died February 19, 1994) was an ice speed skater from the Netherlands, who won a bronze and a silver medal at the 1993 Dutch distance championships. A year later she died due to an automobile crash, which shocked the Dutch Olympians who were in Hamar, Norway at that moment for the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Her friend Marianne Timmer twice won an Olympic Gold medal at the day Vellinga died, at the 1998 and 2006 Winter Olympics. Vellinga was Ids Postma's girlfriend at the time of her death.
