Renato, real name Renato Boavista Florêncio, (born May 15, 1980 in Santa Mercedes, Brazil) is a Brazilian football player who currently plays for Sevilla FC. He plays as a central attacking midfielder / playmaker and has been capped 29 times by Brazilian national team. He has dual citizenship: Brazilian and Italian - his mother is Brazilian and his father Italian. Renato has enjoyed a return to the Brazilian international side in 2006-07 due to his impressive midfield displays which has seen Sevilla top the Spanish La Liga at the end of 2006.

Renato has scored 4 times so far in the 2006-07 season, the latest of which was after Sevilla saw off Barcelona 2-1 at home with an exquisite curler which led to Ronaldinho hailing him as the finest playmaker in the division after the match. In an interview for Spanish soccer paper Futbol Mundial, Ronaldinho said that he is a great friend of Renato, after playing together from U-17 to senior level with Brazil, and claims that Barcelona would be 'completely crazy' not to approach to sign him as his contract expires at Sevilla in June 2007. Renato turned down a new contract offer in October 2006 stating a desire to be playing at one of the bigger clubs.
