Rena Mizunashi (Japanese: 水無 怜奈) is a fictional character of the series Case Closed.
[edit] Character Information
Rena Mizunashi is a news reporter. She is first properly introduced in episode 425 of the anime(manga volume 48-49). She is a friend of the singer Yoko Okino who gets Detective Kogoro to help her in a small problem. Rena hires him as a bodyguard to get to the bottom of what turns out to eventually be a child. Rena Mizunashi looks like the boys mother, so the chid, noticing that she doesn't go to work (she left her company, unknowingly to the child), went to her house, and knocked on her door for a wakeup call. In the process, a tracker(due to Conan) accidentally gets stuck on her, eventually revealing her to be a black organization member after recording a conversation with Gin. She is planning an assassination; however, her plans are eventually foiled by Conan and the FBI agents. While trying to escape, she crashes and is the only member to be detained by the FBI agents.
Kir is currently being watched in a hospital by the FBI agents, however, it is speculated by Conan and FBI that others searching for her have found her location. As of the end of Chapter 596, Kir has finally awakened from her coma. She fools the FBI and doctor into believing she's still unconscious, but Conan still remains suspicious of her.
In Chapter 601, Black Organisation is sending a lot of bombs (near 60) to Haido Central Hospital and their plan from the beginning was to kill Kir and seal her mouth forever. As of the end of Chapter 601, Kir has finally recover complety and she appear in the TV. However we found out that this was a trick just to lure the FBI agents to her room so that the organization will know where she is. As the chapter 603, Kir was saved by the BO and the FBI lose her.
[edit] Trivia
- She is featured in the 17th opening of the anime wearing the same kind of clothing as Gin. In the 18th opening, she is the only member to appear.
- Heiji is asked by Conan to investigate Osaka where she used to live.
- The other members of the organizatiion are currently searching for her.
- May have relations to a character named Eisuke introduced in episodes 429-430, however, in recent manga chapters (File 586 and File 587) it was revealed that in one of Rena Mizunashi's first news assignments, in which a chemical plant exploded, that her blood type was "RH+, AB," while Hondou Eisuke insists that his sister's and his blood type is O. Conan later discovers something on Eisuke's upper body that still may link the two.
- According to volume 54 and 56, she may be responsible for the death of Eisuke's father, and is being looked for by the CIA as well as the BO.
- She is 27 years old, making her the youngest member of the black organization to be alive so far(Shiho and Akemi were younger, but both are no longer part of the organization).
- In the manga, it is revealed that she used to live in Osaka.
- Like Vermouth, Kir appears to be less menacing than some of the other members. This is proven after Conan encounters while following her through the tracker. When she asks if he's been following her and he answers "no", she easily believes him without suspicion. She's also more generous, which is shown through her kindness toward the boy responsible for the "mischievous doorbell" case.
- Much of volumes 53-56 revolve around Rena and her possible link to Eisuke.
- In File 599, It is revealed that the name of Eisuke's sister is Hidemi Hondou.
- In Chapter 601, Black Organisation is sending a lot of bombs (near 60) to Haido Central Hospital and their plan from the beginning was to kill Kir and seal her mouth forever. As of the end of Chapter 601, Kir has finally recover complety and she appear in the TV.
