[edit] Childhood

René Dif was born to an Algerian father and a Danish mother, on October 17, 1967. The young Libran was soon followed by two younger brothers and one sister. He was never interested in school and was actually expelled from many, but René wasn't lazy: he was always doing something, whether working on bikes, baking cakes, or delivering newspapers in his native town of Frederiksberg, Denmark. René left school after the ninth grade and became a cabin boy on an ocean liner. Whilst in Barbados, René heard a local DJ on the radio and decided that was the life for him. He packed up a case-full of borrowed CD singles and left for Norway to pursue his dream and ambitious goal of stardom.

[edit] Early years

The opportunity to work as a DJ not only brought René to the conclusion that it was dance music that fascinated him the most, but also gave him the chance to meet other professionals in the field. Among the many DJ’s and promoters he met at that time was Ali, someone who shared strong interests in music style with him. Together they formed the band Factual Beat, resulting in a music album called "Groove Your Soul" and the debut single release "I Believe" on their back. Although their album didn’t hit the charts as they had hoped, it served as a platform for both Ali and René to show their considerable abilities. Ali came to realize how much he enjoyed composing music and René proved to be an able singer. Not surprisingly, the two decided to go their separate ways. René set about forming Joyspeed, and Ali began to produce music for himself "Simply known as DJ ALIGATOR".

[edit] DJ years

René was initially a DJ in Norway and was mostly responsible for Aqua being formed, discovering female vocalist Lene Nystrøm Rasted on a cruise ship in 1994 and also bringing together Søren Rasted and Claus Norreen to complete the group. Before Aqua he released a single called "Så rykker vi (Shedet hvor det rykker)" with his first band Stop & Stop. With his second band Factual Beat he released three singles "I Believe", "Give Me Your Love" and "Anywhere". After the main group Aqua split-up in 2001 he released three solo singles, "Let It All Out (Push It)", "The Uhh Uhh Song" and "Uhh La La La".

René Dif announced on his official site that his solo album was almost finished, and Mr.Dif was working on an English movie. Fans are also excited because Rene Dif states the possibilty of an Aqua Greatest Hits on his official website.
