Remote weapon station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Remote Weapon Station or RWS is a remotely controlled weapon station for light and medium calibre weapons which can be installed on any type of vehicle. It is most common, though, on modern armoured military vehicles.
An example of an operative RWS is the PROTECTOR M151 system developed by Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA). In production since 2001, PROTECTOR is in use by several Western armies including the US Army (main armament on the Stryker vehicle). The system has been fielded by US Army, the Australian Army and the Canadian Army.
