Remote Administrator

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Remote Administrator (Radmin) is a graphical (GUI) desktop sharing software for Microsoft Windows which uses the Mirror Video Driver (Video Hook Driver) to remotely control another computer. All mouse movements and keyboard signals are transferred from the local computer directly to the remote computer over the network, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction.

Radmin was originally developed by Dmitry Znosko in 1999.

[edit] Operation

Radmin consists of two separate modules:

  • The Server module (Radmin Server): needs to be installed on the computer which you want to access remotely.
  • The Client module (Radmin Viewer): needs to be installed on the computer which you want to use to access remote computer.

Radmin Server uses the Mirror Video Driver (also known as Video Hook Driver) to read the remote screen bypassing Video Display Controller. Mirror Video Driver allows to read only changing parts of the screen.
