Remote (リモート Rimōto?) is a mystery manga created by Seimaru Amagi and illustrated by Tetsuya Koshiba, published in the United States by Tokyopop. Despite the story being somehow violent and dark, the characters are depicted in a pretty shōnen style, with lots of fanservice from the female protagonist. In Japan, a popular TV drama was based on its story.[1]

[edit] Story
Kurumi Ayaki has recently retired from her job as a police officer, but she needs money for her upcoming wedding, so she wants to return to her old job in the Traffic Department, but she is instead assigned to Unsolved Crimes Division, Special Unit A, and her task is to solve crimes classified as "unsolvable". Her partner is the young genius inspector Himuro, who can't leave his room, so she has to act for him while uncovering the mysteries assigned to her.
[edit] Characters
- Kurumi Ayaki (彩木くるみ Ayaki Kurumi?)
- Young and beautiful, she resigned from her job to marry her fiancé Shingo, but because of the recession and of the money he had to borrow to buy her wedding ring, she has to postpone her marriage plans and accept her new job in "the crypt" (common nickname of Himuro's house/office), a job people generally quit within a month. She's very proud of her running skill, and that she was the eight fastest marathon runner in her prefecture during high school.
- Kōzaburō Himuro (氷室光三郎 Himuro Kōzaburō?)
- Considered a genius detective, to him are assigned the most difficult investigations, but he can't leave his messy room, so he needs a partner mostly to act as an extension to his body: he listens to Kurumi's descriptions over the mobile phone and gives her orders. He usually writes down his reasoning on the wall of his room. After an accident happened a year before, in which he lost someone dear to him, he shut himself in the basement of his house ("the crypt") and became emotionless.
